International Day of Peace

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September.

The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.

But achieving true peace entails much more than laying down arms.

It requires the building of societies where all members feel that they can flourish.

It involves creating a world in which people are treated equally, regardless of their race.

I have begun to quiet my own mind in steps, by avoiding television and social media news.

In addition, being aware of negative and judgmental thoughts is a new process for me.

There is so very much to be thankful for.

While we all want to change the world, why not start at home?

  2. I think you've cracked it, as far as the roots of violence goes. Of course it doesn't help that some world leaders are not rational human beings and start wars for reasons only they know. Ihope Ukraine can cement a victory very soon.
