String-o-pearls

Hmmm...someone (meaning ME) found something in the litterbox that was a bit disturbing.  No, I am NOT going to show you what; I think the title of this post tells all!  Apparently, we have a piece of carpet that some kitty is chewing on, and then ingesting the threads.

Not my carpet, just an image snagged from internet,
but those fine, plasticy threads are EXACTLY what
we have!
The Hubby and I reconnoitered, and a chewed carpet square was discovered upstairs within a few feet of where someone (meaning a certain black-and-white kitty) loves to nap! Now in the trash, there will no longer be any unbound carpet squares for this household, and Angel will have to find something else to chew on, like the newspapers on the table.
"Not me, Mama!  Nu-uh!"
She denies the litterbox evidence is hers!

  2. far far too late we realized Twee was chewing off the tassels on one of the area rugs. She was fine, but the carpet looked silly.

  5. Good for you for finding it and putting an end to that nonsense! We recently got rid of an old and overly loved cat tower that had those plastic strings coming from the worn carpet pieces meaning the entire thing. No one needs that clogging up their internal pipes!

  6. Well at least it came out! ;) Zoey ate about 12 inches of string one time. Fortunately it came out too...but it was a long 2 days waiting for it.

  7. If there is no photographic evidence of you doing it Angel, you are innocent :)

  8. Ohhhh be careful. I had a feline many, many years ago who chewed up very cheap carpet fibers. They wound around her intestines and required surgery to remove. Thankfully, I worked there at the time so it wasn't quite as expensive as it could have been.

  9. Oh yes, our mom has seen similar things. She now keeps our shredded tower trimmed (an Izzy fave) and the carpet seam that Ivan enhanced covered with transitional floor trim of some sort.

  10. Wow, good catch! Luckily the string came out ok.
I'm a big believer of closely monitoring the litter box. It's not glamorous, but it's immensely informative.

  11. Be careful! Chewing carpet can be very dangerous - even deadly. I know cats that had to have their bellies open because of their chewing carpets or blankets!

  12. Unfortunately, I know of what you speak! Sophie is our resident carpet chewer.
