The Wizard of Chicago

Folks, today I am thankful for another book series.

The Dresden Files

written by Jim Butcher.

The latest book, "Battle Ground" came out on Tuesday, September 29, and I received the library audiobook at midnight.

"Peace Talks" arrived in July, 2020, and they really are one book in two parts.

Harry Dresden is a professional wizard, and the series follows him as his knowledge and power grows from a private detective-like role, to The Winter Knight, working for Queen Mab, as they defend Chicago from some bad, destructive beings.

Harry is a regular dude, who makes mistakes, and doesn't do well in personal relationships.  He oftens quips lines from movies and TV shows, which makes humans, immortals, necromancers, werewolves, vampires, and fae consider him a complete duffus.

Yet Mister, the street-smart cat, and a sacred Foo Temple dog named Mouse are his loyal companions, and occasionally assist Harry to vanquish evil.

The Dresden Files are classified as contemporary fantasy/mystery novels, and I recommend them.

Storm Front (April, 2000), Fool Moon (January, 2001), Grave Peril (September, 2001), Summer Knight (September, 2002), Death Masks (August, 2003), Blood Rites (August, 2004), Dead Beat (May, 2006), Proven Guilty( February, 2007), White Night (February, 2008), Small Favor (May, 2009), Turn Coat (March, 2010), Changes (March, 2011), Ghost Story (August, 2012), Cold Days (September, 2013), Skin Game (March, 2015), Peace Talks (July, 2020), Battle Ground (September, 2020)

WARNING: Adult content, this is not a kid's series!!!

    1. I agree that sound really good! That reminds me that our garbage collector recommended author Christopher Rice. :) His works can be 'out there', the fellow said, and one needs an open mind. Thanks for giving me a great suggestion.

  6. I have recently stepped into the 21 century...Yep
being a germaphobic there was no way I was going to check out library books so I am know reading books on my iPad which are delivered via BookBub.
I mostly select free books. I might add coming to this decision was not easy. I love to touch my books and I love the book jackets. I also recently discovered LIBBY an app that all libraries have. Best sellers available for 2 week virtual check out. easy peasy just a few steps to sign up.
