Mother Nature shows off in our native plants gardens:
Stonecrop |
Mapleleaf Viburnum |
Early Meadow Rue |
White Snakeroot |
Thimbleweed |
Wild Geranium |
We allow the autumn leaves to fall and stay in our backyard, and are thankful for it.
The leaves are havens for overwintering insects.
Some day, our entire yard...front and back...will have no lawn, only plants and trees that are the same as what was in our part of Michigan before Europeans came a'calling.
The wildlife and ecosystem evolved together, and invasive species take away nutrition and pollinators.
Wild plants are acclimatized to Michigan's seasons, and therefore are almost maintenance free.
There is one plant, however, that volunteered itself, yet must go:

Very wise, let the yard be as it was meant to be - no one is a better garden designer than Mother Nature! But lose the poison ivy - MOL!
ReplyDeleteYes...sure don't need any poison ivy (Oh no, an earworm started.)
ReplyDeleteEven as we move the clocks back there is still beauty in nature.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - except for that poison ivy!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos and I like the new header. XO
ReplyDeleteThose are all really very pretty! Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteGrass is terrible compared to what we could grow. ~nods~ Funny enough, I worked as a lawn care customer service rep from 1990 to around 2006. Thank you for the lovely photos and plant identifications. Be well, my dear.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely fall photos!
ReplyDeleteI love all the different colors and textures this time of year.
ReplyDeleteNature is infinite in its variety and beauty.
ReplyDeleteThere's so much beauty in what was designed to be in each area.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to do nothing but natives. The poison ivy will always try to show up.
