Ball of Fire!

It's Sweetnesday!

Today, let's look at the many moods of Wee Cheetie Sweetie:
Unimpressed
Inscrutable
Impassive

Yep, she's just a whirlwind! 😹

Sweetie's latest Solensia vet visit proved that she'd gained a whisper of weight, which is fabulous as I was really concerned that she'd lost.

As for the appetite stimulant, I've scored a few more times with pilling her by waking her up from sleep!

Yeah, it's not playing cricket, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
❤️❤️❤️

She's got a cricket to ride...!

The lobby filing cabinet

The baited cricket trap

Sideways video of cricket chirping

There is a cricket under the lobby filing cabinet at my office.  Since I've rescued two crickets so far from this building, I feel it's my job to get this one too.  But the cabinet is too heavy for me to pull out.  I cannot see down the back or sides either, and pulling out the drawers makes it plain that this cricket knows how to hide!  For now, I've put out a plate with a apple slice on it, hoping the cricket is hungry.  It sure is singing loudly!  The video simply is to record the loud cricket chirp.

If anyone has any ideas on how to coax the insect out, please comment! Even having a cat in residence wouldn't help.  The boss is calling it, "Vicky's Cricket".  Everyone is amused by my tenacity at saving this critter.

How did I go from Creepy Cat Stalker to Everything Wild Huntress?

BUT WAIT!  The maintenance crew has decided to pull out the credenza for me...how nice!

The guys were amazing!

Other cricket, moved outside
One more cricket is wrested from the quiet, warm and dry interior, and placed under a dripping wet bush, on this cool, grey day.  Bon Voyage, cricket!  Tell all of your cricket friends that it's a wasted trip to get inside this building; I'll suss them out and put 'em back out.

Massive

For the squeamish, don't look at this peeball!
This is the biggest peeball that I've ever dug out of the litterbox!  It's massive; I even got out a ruler to measure it's size.  This was all Chucky, because I just happened to have witnessed the um, er...deposit as it was created!

Now, actually, a peeball this size is cause for concern; excessive urination can be an indicator of several issues, like kidney problems or even diabetes.  Lucky for him, we have a visit at Sheppard Alternative Animal Care on Saturday, and we will ask the veterinarian all about it.  However, it's more than likely that it's a one time behavior for my Chuck, since I scoop the boxes every day and know both his and Angel's output.  He makes a big peeball every once in awhile, but not every day. Thanks to TROUT TALKIN TABBIES for giving me the courage to take a photo of something from the litterbox!  LOL!

P.S. Please go visit Sunny at Colehaus Cats; the orange kitty is now in her furrever home!  YAY!

P.S.S. You know that I love cats, but really I love all critters.  Like this cricket that I just found in one of our Vice President's offices.  I carefully captured it, then released it back outside.  Run free, dear cricket!
Mr. Cricket, why were you inside my building?

Saved From The Cricket: A Reenactment

Somehow a cricket got inside the house.  I did a quick search online to find a natural way (no toxic bug spray, please!) to get rid of the bug, since it would disappear into the crack between the floor and the wall any time I tried to approach.

So, I read about a bowls of molasses and water, and some sort of homemade fly-paper stuff.  And lots of noise about crickets left to multiply, to eat one's house up!  Then, the light bulb went off.  I have CATS!  They chase any moth or fly that comes along, and Angel loves to catch spiders (and eat the web...ugh).  So, I waited until Angel and Chuck awoke from their naps to investigate.

Chuck did not acknowledge any problem.  He heard the chirping but ignored it completely.  Hmm, must be management material.

Angel knew something was not right from the get-go, like the good worker bee she is.  She hunted and sniffed, and the cricket went silent when she finally found its location.  She walked away, and the cricket chirped.  She walked back again...silence.  The cricket slid into the crack where she could not get at it.

However, Mr. Cricket decided that a cat locating his presence could quickly become lethal, and he began his move.  He crawled along the edge, around a corner, and was within feet of the front door when Angel again found him, who pointed out the vile intruder's location to her humans, and without eating it first.  Since it was out in the open now, and could no longer hide in the gap, I grabbing a clean kitty litter scoop and I slipped it under the monster.  Managed to get it outside to freedom, without any human or cat or insect being injured in the process!  Hurrah!
