Back to Work

Some of us are now back at work, after some much enjoyed time off for holidays: lounging around, playing with the cats, staying in your jammies all day, and perhaps enjoying some treats that may be off the dietary list during your usual routines.

Therefore, here's a few smiles to lighten your mood, whether you physically commute to the office, or just fire up the company computer at home.

As for retired folks, we know that you remember what it's like!

Don't let her fool you

Thank you all for your kind comments on our reaching our 9th Blogoversary.

I have so much fun here.
💗😻💗😻💗
Since we missed it yesterday...it's Sweetnesday today!

Now, you may think Queen Sweet The First is a lazy, pampered housepanther.
You note that she is often photographed while snoozing...
...Often in the window, with sunshine warming her fur.
And yet, just who made these dusty paw prints on my laptop...on top of my desk?

And nope, you cannot say "Manny or Chili Bruce did it!" because they are locked downstairs, while only one cat is in the Sweetie Suite, formerly known as Angel's Apartment.

Which is where my office...er, um...desk and computers, monitors, cables, printer, piles of paperwork, etc. are.

Yep, that sleepy kitty is still mountain climbing!

Her placid image is a ruse; she's got mischief up her fur.

Along with her murder mitts...

Four Weeks

March 13, 2020 was my last day in the office.

Since then, I've been working from home.

Knowing that my global company is safeguarding the health of their employees means a lot!

What the near and distant future will bring, we cannot know.

It is Spring; a time for rebirth, beginnings, and evolution.

The PO'M watches as The Hubby cavorts in the backyard.
The Hubby was looking for mushrooms (it's too early, but he's looking anyhow!)
The PO'M was sunbathing, and is graciously allowed us to tromp around 'his' territory.
We can succumb to worry, and to the uncertainty of life.

Or, we can rejoice in the amazing resiliency of humankind!

May you all enjoy health, strength, love, and contentment.

Sending you all a virtual hug!

Office So Long

Today, my direct supervisor is leaving his current job to head a new department in Europe, moving from one Vice Presidency to another.

We've been great friends for the past few years, and I've got a lump in my throat just typing these words.  We have made a great team!  I am an executive administrative assistant.

My new supervisor is a man I've been working with for over seven years; he's been promoted!  We two just had a terrific gabfest, and I feel we're going to be just fine together.

There is good and bad with everything, and this change is by far not as hellish as others that I've been through in my career, yet I have qualms.

So long, CS...Bon Voyage!

Hello, CA...let's hit the ground running!

This is the card that I gave CS, plus a potted mini-rose plant & some chocolates.

Here's an old clip of The Who, playing "Don't Get Fooled Again", with the prophetic line:

Meet the new boss!
Same as the old boss!

Even though that line doesn't apply, it's nice to ROCK OUT once in awhile...

Here is a photo that I found online, of Roger Daltrey with a kitten:

Lucky kitty....😻

Thankful Thursday: Yay, it's done!

Just a few hours ago, I and my co-worker delivered a slide presentation, with commentary, to some of our company's top executives via video conferencing.  Even though I've met every person in the meeting, having them all looking and listening to ME...even for only half of the time...was very, very difficult.  I was sure I was going to faint!

In order to give myself strength, I wore my new Laurel Burch cat earrings, and my silvery cat scarf, gifted by Rachel from Three Chatty Cats Blog last year.

Aren't they cute?
I got them at Laurel Burch Studios
From October, 2018
Notice Quint's art hanging on the wall behind me;
you can get one too at Colehaus Cats Blog!

I rose an hour early, (Thank You, The Hubby!), to make it on time for the presentation, and then, of course, we had to wait...and wait...and wait.  In the end, it went smoothly: delivered, commented on, and we received high-fives all 'round!

So very thankful that it's done.  We've worked on it for close to six months, and I had my cat accessories to help give my psyche a boost. Yay! 😺

Let's Hop!

I mention Quint from Colehaus Cats and Laurel Burch because I love them, and only for my own pleasure at their products.

She's got a cricket to ride...!

The lobby filing cabinet

The baited cricket trap

Sideways video of cricket chirping

There is a cricket under the lobby filing cabinet at my office.  Since I've rescued two crickets so far from this building, I feel it's my job to get this one too.  But the cabinet is too heavy for me to pull out.  I cannot see down the back or sides either, and pulling out the drawers makes it plain that this cricket knows how to hide!  For now, I've put out a plate with a apple slice on it, hoping the cricket is hungry.  It sure is singing loudly!  The video simply is to record the loud cricket chirp.

If anyone has any ideas on how to coax the insect out, please comment! Even having a cat in residence wouldn't help.  The boss is calling it, "Vicky's Cricket".  Everyone is amused by my tenacity at saving this critter.

How did I go from Creepy Cat Stalker to Everything Wild Huntress?

BUT WAIT!  The maintenance crew has decided to pull out the credenza for me...how nice!

The guys were amazing!

Other cricket, moved outside
One more cricket is wrested from the quiet, warm and dry interior, and placed under a dripping wet bush, on this cool, grey day.  Bon Voyage, cricket!  Tell all of your cricket friends that it's a wasted trip to get inside this building; I'll suss them out and put 'em back out.

Office Addition: Quint's Art!

Yay!  Not only do I have cat photos in cute frames in my office, now I have Quint's art hanging right where I can stare at it while sitting at my desk.

Check out more of Quint's artwork at Colehaus Cats!  I am very excited to have this!

Office Cat Collection

Yep, my photo collection at the office keeps growing!  (Except for a kid photo of The Hubby, in the center.)  I also pin cat images to my board, and my favorite is from FatCatArt entitled "Leonardo da Vinci, Mona Lisa, True Version".  So even when I am away from my furr babies, I continue to enjoy their fuzzy faces!

Mama, Don't Go!

Chuck: Mama, don't leave me!  I'm just ready to play!

Angel: 'snore'...hmm...wha?

Chuck: Look, I've got my toy ready and my talio is flippin'...
Stay home and play!
Sorry, sweet kitty boy...gotta earn green papers to pay for cat food and rolls of paper towels to clean up after you two!  Plus, I bring home wonderful boxes for cat use from the office.  We will play tonight, I promise...

Lost Dog

Last week, a co-worker alerted me to a dog in our parking lot!  Both he and I gingerly approached the pooch, but the dog just sat there and panted...and seemed to be shivering.

Scared doggie!
We went inside, pulled a ham sandwich apart, and put the pieces on a plate.  With a bowl of water, I approached the scared dog, and at first he didn't move.  We thought maybe he was injured; the road is not far away.  But then the dog walked over and wolfed down the food, and drank thirstily.

Now what to do?  Thank goodness for Paws for the Cause Feral Cat Rescue, because Laura answered my texts, then she got to work using social media to find a dog rescue group.  And she did!  A ReJOYceful Rescue raised their hand, and within an hour, the doggie was on his way to a better life.

He was horribly matted, and had gunk around his eyes stuck in his fur.  However, he became super playful, and once he knew we were bringers of food, he barked and jumped and was as sweet as could be.

A email from A ReJOYceful Rescue a couple of days ago:

"He is doing great. He is still at the vet's being monitored. He should be going to a foster home this week.  Thank you for helping."

The dog was unneutered, and no microchip.  No tags either.

HURRAY!  And no, don't thank me...you are the one's with the hearts of gold who rescue day in and day out; that's true dedication!

The Move

Gratuitous Patty O'Malley photo from last month
My office moved to a new location last Friday, changing my 10-15 minute commute to 45-50 minutes.  Positive: I have my own office now, instead of a cube!  Negative: Cannot go home at lunch to visit the kitties.  So now Chuck and Angel, Patty and Sweetie will have to do with less of 1) me, and 2) no lunch snack.  Now, every one of my cats could stand to be on a bit of a diet, but I am going to miss them tremendously. And what will I do with my lunch time now?  Where will I find cats to play with?  Guess I'll have to get creative; maybe there is a cats-only veterinary nearby my new office that I can stop at and visit.  Perhaps I'll learn to take a walk and breathe in some air!  Or, I can go to the nearest library and check out the cat book selection.

Had a bad moment or two last week, when the impact of this change hit me.  And yet, my employer is growing, new things are happening, and it's exciting to be in the middle of it all.  And of course, the hubby has promised to jump in and fill up bowls with food or water if I am delayed.  Guess I'll just get extra kitty lovin' in on the weekends!  The mad weekend smooching crazy lady with cats...that's me!

P.S. At the company holiday luncheon raffle, I won a Nook!  Can't wait to figure out how to use the thing, and our local libraries have all kinds of free reading material downloads, so I won't have to spend eleventymillion dollars on new books.  Plus, the thing is a super huge camera, so let's see what kind of new cat photos I take!
