On The Job

I am thankful to be gainfully employed, with a terrific supervisor and teammates.

Yesterday, we completed 2-1/2 days of meetings, with folks traveling in from all parts of the globe.

I organized the hotel rooms, lunches, snacks, drinks, evening restaurant reservations, some taxi services, located electric cords for laptops, supplied pots and pots of coffee, and lots of cookies.

We exchanged photos of our pets, told stories about kids, travel, hilarious work situations, and heckled our bosses with smiling humor.

The group surprised me with a round of applause, a bouquet of flowers, and a handmade box made from semi-precious stones, in the final minutes of our convention.

The next time the team interacts, we'll be tiny rectangles on each other's monitors on some online appointment, so it was delightful to be in each other's company.

Am very glad to be working remotely again though, as home is where the cats are!

Oh yes, and The Hubby...*wink*

Office So Long

Today, my direct supervisor is leaving his current job to head a new department in Europe, moving from one Vice Presidency to another.

We've been great friends for the past few years, and I've got a lump in my throat just typing these words.  We have made a great team!  I am an executive administrative assistant.

My new supervisor is a man I've been working with for over seven years; he's been promoted!  We two just had a terrific gabfest, and I feel we're going to be just fine together.

There is good and bad with everything, and this change is by far not as hellish as others that I've been through in my career, yet I have qualms.

So long, CS...Bon Voyage!

Hello, CA...let's hit the ground running!

This is the card that I gave CS, plus a potted mini-rose plant & some chocolates.

Here's an old clip of The Who, playing "Don't Get Fooled Again", with the prophetic line:

Meet the new boss!
Same as the old boss!

Even though that line doesn't apply, it's nice to ROCK OUT once in awhile...

Here is a photo that I found online, of Roger Daltrey with a kitten:

Lucky kitty....😻

Changes

How do I tell my new boss that he and my cat have the same name?

My 'old' boss of almost five years is moving to a new position within our company.  Today is his last day here.  I wish him good luck and fair sailing! My new supervisor is someone whom I've worked with in the past, and I think we'll get along just fine.  I may cry a tear or two, as the day slips away and the future comes marching in.  In a way, I am mourning the loss of a good relationship, and finely-tuned teamwork.

After this weekend, I will embrace the new!  If I live through the missing hour, that is....

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." - Winston Churchill

P.S. I found out who sent the text of the cat in my last post!  Hahahaha!  A co-worker, and her cat is LeRoy.  She says he's a pill, since he glares at her other cats, making them hide from him.  But he's adorable!
