National Kitten Day!

What a purrfect day to introduce my niece's new kitten!

Meet Eevee!

Isn't she a doll?

Her big brofur is Magoo, whom I adore:

And, I rummaged around to find photos of Sweetie's two babies, from 2009:

Hobo was kitten-sitting Sneakers and Honey on our driveway.
Sweetie, with her kittens
Sneakers making like a meerkat
Honey turned out to be a boy
A neighbor took the kittens, and we TNR'd Sweetie.

Now, she's living inside with toys, beddies, food, and cuddles galore!

Now if Da Boyz will stop hissing at her...

Paperwork!

Now that we have several different veterinarians (Chuck's heart vet, our regular vet, the holistic vet, and then services needed for The 'O' Cats)...I decided that I needed to get all our cat health paperwork collated and organized.

Easier said than done!

Piles and piles of paperwork!

I went through stacks of paperwork, and I found a lot of receipts and detailed information, which I then organized.  But, there was some stuff I was still missing:  where were my receipts from my first days trapping The 'O' cats: Hobo, Sweetie, and Honey?  I searched high and low.

There you are!
Turns out, I had neatly stashed that paperwork in a envelope years ago...and then tucked it away!  No wonder I couldn't find it.
Yay!
Took over an hour, but I now have everything stacked up by cat.  Think I may buy some three-ring binders, and file every page from oldest to newest.  Seeing the paperwork from Sammy's euthanasia and the missing Honey gave me a touch of sadness, but now I am organized.  This means I can look up dates of last vaccinations, or when Patty O'Malley and Sweetie had their rabies shots.

On the other hand, losing an hour definitely bothered us more than the cats. Angel did her usual early morning yowl: here is the photo I took of that!

Notice the white blob on the floor
outside the bedroom door
And Chucky was so happy to have both of his humans dancing attendance on him, that he ran up the cat climb in the dining room, and hung out there, watching us from on high!

"Silly humans!  I am above you!"

Mia and Kittens

Mama Mia today
In July 2009
Mama Mia showed up in the summer of 2009, heavily pregnant.  Our feral pal Hobo had escorted her to the food dishes on the deck, literally walking her through our yard as her bodyguard.  She didn't show us her kittens for many weeks, then voila!
Sneakers
Honey
I was beside myself, trying to figure out what to do.  Leave the kittens outside with their momma (and dad?) or grab 'em and bring them inside?  I could not get close to the kittens, figuring in time I would be able to.  We decided to TNR everybody then, and caught Hobo and Honey; Sneakers managed to go in and out of the traps without tripping the door, and Mia refused to go near them.  Then one day, both kittens were gone.  I searched everywhere, and asked many neighbors.  I found nothing, and no one had any information.  I put up 'Missing!' signs, and visited animal control every third day for six months.  The kittens never showed up again.  Months later, I used the drop trap to capture Mia, and she was spayed.  But I was heart-broken over those kittens, so with the help of my sister and niece, I found a call-in radio pet psychic, and dialed that 800# until I got through.  The psychic told me the kittens were taken by a neighbor 'close-by' and that they were happy.  Some relief that they were safe, but their disappearance from my life has been difficult.  I mean, look at those sweet kitties!  Mia has always been fearful of me, but recently she's allowed me to pet her, and even scritch under her chin.  She lets out a low purr that I feel in my heart.
