Farewell, Magoo.

My niece's cat Magoo experienced a sudden and unexpected downturn, and was helped to The Rainbow Bridge this past Saturday.

Magoo was a stray kitten found in the backyard in Ohio, and traveled to many places with his human.

I last visited with him and his fursis Eevee when in New York in 2025, and both cats slept with me on that occasion.

Magoo was the first cat in my life to jump up to visit me in bed, and that is a memory that I'll always be thankful for.

Delayed

 Am typing this while still in New York; my flight to Detroit has been delayed for over two hours due to storms.

Hobo was kitten-sitting Sneakers and Honey on our driveway.

A neighbor took the kittens, and we TNR'd Sweetie.

Now, she's living inside with toys, beddies, food, and cuddles galore!

We didn't just stay inside just to play with Magoo, although I spent a lot of time with the 'chonky boi'!  While shopping in Lebanon's historic downtown, I found other cats:

After I spent all of my money (a pair of shoes, organic lotion, and the black cat statue from yesterday's post but no scarves), we stood in the rain to watch the daytime Lebanon Horse Drawn Carriage Parade.

We went in the evening to watch the nighttime parade, as horses and carriages were adorned with lights and jingle bells galore!  Here is a taste of the fun:

Needless to say, leaving my family and Magoo behind was difficult to do, and plans are to drive back again in the spring.

My niece sent photos of her new kitten, Toby.  She says she calls him 'Baby' mostly, and I can see why.  What a cutie!

I've warned her; cat ladies run in the family...😻😹😽

Thankful Thursday

This is a photo of my youngest niece and my mother.  I am so very thankful that my cat-loving niece has finished high school and is enrolled in college.  I am thankful that my mother is wonderfully alive and kicking (okay, maybe not as high a kick as she once had...), and still stirring up trouble and fun.

Mr. Magoo finds a home

You may remember a recent post, entitled "Niece On The Job!", about a found friendly stray kitten.  I am very happy to report he's been named Mr. Magoo, and her last text to me, niece said: "My parents said we are keeping him instead of taking him to the shelter!"

Super news!  I cannot wait for new photos, and an update on how Mr. Magoo is settling in.  Yay, Mr. Magoo, and kudos to niece and family for adding another member!

And, Sugarbear's humans express their thanks for all the purrs sent their way.

Niece on the Job!

Received a text from my niece, with the above photo attached.  The text read, "A feral cat started meowing outside our window today!  I thought about you!  I fed him and I hope I can take him to the vet to get him neutered and adopted!"

I sincerely hope she is able to complete her stated mission, and if one kitty is saved, then that's a GREAT THING!  My niece has volunteered at an animal shelter near where she lives in Ohio, and she works at a doggie-day care.  I am immensely proud of her, and am glad that a little bit of her crazy-lady-with-cats auntie has helped her to imagine helping an animal in her our backyard.  Her parents have done a terrific job in raising her and her two brothers, and my only wish is that I could visit with them more.  

Thought of Groucho Marx when I saw the photo; look at those big eyebrows!  Isn't it funny the way his tail looks like it belongs to someone else?
