Loving Leonard

My dear friend, E. T. in British Columbia, whom I visited last year (and had a blast!), decided that this ginger boy needed to be in her house as soon as possible,

Was Papaya, at CATS: Cat Advocates Teaching and Saving Society. 

Now called Leonard, he was shy for awhile, then began venturing out.

Resident Sweet Pea was fairly sanguine about Leonard, and they get along well.

Equal time share on the sunpuddles!

Leonard was returned to the shelter, and E. T., who has been owned by ginger boys before, knew immediately that he belonged with her and Sweet Pea.

I loved Vancouver Island, and now I must plan a trip get acquainted with Leonard, as Sweet Pea already knows that sleeping in my lap on the lounger is A-OK.

It's Caturday!

How could I NOT artify a close-up of Sweet Pea, who is now far away on Vancouver Island while I am home with Da Boyz, Henry, and The Hubby in Michigan.

So much fun was had; adventures, discoveries, libraries...oh yeah, you think I that I WOULDN'T visit a library when on vacation?!?

Finished four audiobooks during my trip.

Was very fortunate to have a VIP Tour of CATS Cat Advocates Teaching & Saving Society, in Comox, BC.

So much to see, only managed a few pics of kittens:

CATS is a volunteer-only cat rescue that works hard to find lost and relocated cats, to reduce the burden  of pet food and supply costs for the community, and educate cat owners to make the world a better place for themselves and their furry family members.

Have huge respect for CATS, and am happy to donate what I can, since I live over 4,000 kilometers away, and am unable to volunteer much.

And another gratuitous pic of Sweet Pea, who is a lovely kitty who falls asleep in my lap because she's doing her part to prevent my homesickness for Da Boyz and Henry.

The Hubby...well, I'm sure he's doing just fine without me...

Limerick

World Limerick Day is celebrated on May 12th, as it marks the birthday of Edward Lear, born on May 12, 1812. 

Lear is widely considered the father of the modern limerick, thanks to his enormously popular Book of Nonsense, published in 1846.

Tried to write my own limerick but failed miserably, so here are a few I found online:

Folks, I cannot make this stuff up!

I find new cats in my neighborhood often.

Getting to know their names is a challenge, but I'm crazy enough to walk up to folks, introduce myself, then ask for the name of their cat.

Jackson is the black cat, and I've posted about him before.
His new sisfur is Sweet Pea, and she's just learning the "watching out the window" ropes.

This is Miss Annie, and while I've met her before, I hadn't posted about her.
Sightings of her a few and far between, and she's very friendly!

This fraidy cat sat watching Miss Annie and me, but wouldn't come any closer.
I'll have to put on my detective hat and find out more about him.

Spied this kitty enjoying someone's vegetable garden.

 Many of you know that community cats go unseen by the general public.

But we feline aficionados have 'cat radar' and see cats everywhere!

Friends, Katnip Lounge has lost their beautiful Sweet Pea.   Angel Rupert left on 4/15/19, so this is a doubly hard passing.  Although the blog is on hiatus, Trish and Scott can be reached here via FB Messenger.
