Thankful Thursday

My dear friend BG gifted me a bag full of wonderful things, including her hand-stitched "I Love My Cats" pillow, a cute cat pin with tales, and a beautiful book mark (and a book to go with it!)

Having nearby friends is wonderful, and also being a part of the cat blogging community with friends spread far and wide is heartwarming as well.

Thank you all for being a part of Eastside Cats!

Thankful Thursday: A Gift

Love it!
Folks, The Hubby likes to doodle.  I gave him a pad of drawing paper and pens years ago, but he'd rather use found bits of paper or cardboard, and sketch whichever cat is in the vicinity.  Many of his drawings are on sticky note paper.

This is Chili Bruce, penned on the insert from a box of green tea packets.  Sure, it's rustic, but it comes from the ❤️ , and it was a gift for me.  The Hubby says Chili Bruce has a smaller head than Manny, but I certainly cannot see any difference!  CB does have a bushier tail than Mans, and Manny has a bigger white patch on his tummy than Chili's, but noggin size is beyond my ken.

I am thankful that Da Boyz and The Hubby are such great friends, and that they inspire artsy gifts for me!  And I tell The Hubby that I think he's an artist with food too, but he won't hear of such hogwash.  He makes terrific meals, and invents new vegan dishes all of the time.  Yesterday, he made a quinoa, kale, and bean dish that was so yummy, I almost licked the bowl!  Actually, I let Da Boyz lick the bowl, but that's another story...

Eastside Cats Has Visitors!

Seriously, like...in the flesh, real PEOPLE visiting us!  My dear Bro-in-Law and wife were able to sit a spell with us recently.  Not only was The Hubby and his brother raised in the house that is now our home, but they lived here for awhile too after marriage.  So, they were visiting both us and their old place.

Manny and Chili Bruce were very keen to meet the new humans, and proceeded to entertain us with jumps onto counters and tables during our yakkety-yakking.  They sniffed shoes, heads, fingers, and investigated like crazy.

Although we keep in touch via online media, it's beyond terrific to see The Hubby's family in purr-son.  These folks are fun, intelligent, interesting, and good-natured.   We traded our favorite book titles back and forth, and The Hubby talked to his brother about some updates planned for the house.

They surprised us with gifts, in condolence for losing Chucky, and for adopting Da Boyz.

Black Cat Cookie Jar
(Difficult to get a good image, due to the shining glaze)

I put the cookie jar on the shelf with my other black cat figures for scale.

Completely unexpected, and we love these pieces!  Thank you again, C & P, and we hope to see you both again soon.

Our relatives are GREAT artists, so here is a shameless plug for them: Denison Art Studio.  They also TNR'd a momma cat and her five kittens 'way back before it was commonplace; they had to search for a veterinarian who would even spay 'wild' cats.  All but one were caught in a humane trap; the last kitten was caught using a box and a stick, just like in the cartoons of old.  The Hubby and I didn't even have cats in our lives back then, so that tells you something.  My in-laws are great lovers of nature, and their constant biking, kayaking, traveling, and making art make me feel like a slacker in comparison.  I am their biggest devotee to their art, although The Hubby claims he's known them longer, and therefore should have that title.  *shrug*

Awhile ago, when Pikku Punapippuri and Chuck were still on earth and not shining stars in the sky, Puna graciously gifted us with one of his purple beddies, here: Gifts From Far Away.  King Spitty at Spitty Speaks also has a royal purple beddy!

Thank you so very much, Catio Tales!  We know that you are all sisu, and we are glad to be counted as your friends!

More Cute Cat Gifts!

My friend BG brought a few items that she knew I would love, when we attended the recent CPR Class for Pets.  The bag is by Laurel Burch, and look at those adorable kitties on the side!  In addition, this whimsical kitty statue is just precious.  It is not going into either my office credenza cat collection NOR my home one; this wee cutie is sitting on my bedstand!

Thank you, BG...such great stuff!
