Welcome Spring!

Spring Equinox 2020 in Northern Hemisphere will be at 11:49 PM (Eastern) on
Thursday, March 19.

As each one of us deals with the current situation, let's rejoice that we are moving into a new season!

Anyone have an ancient stone monolith setup, that we can dance around?!?

Thankful Thursday

My dear friend BG gifted me a bag full of wonderful things, including her hand-stitched "I Love My Cats" pillow, a cute cat pin with tales, and a beautiful book mark (and a book to go with it!)

Having nearby friends is wonderful, and also being a part of the cat blogging community with friends spread far and wide is heartwarming as well.

Thank you all for being a part of Eastside Cats!

Thankful Thursday: Friends Who Flock

This Thursday, I am thankful for my friend Beth.

Beth and I met at a cat adoption event.

Since then, we've found that we enjoy a lot of the same things, in addition to felines:

The mystical side of life
The is a bone throw that I had a couple of years ago, which predicted Chucky's passing (see the cat totem laying outside of the circle?)
A great cup of tea!
This image is a cat teapot, cup, and strainer all in one!
Monarch Butterfly
We dig butterflies!

My artsy-fartsy image of a fern fiddlehead
Beth inspires me to expand my photography skills, of which she has A LOT!

We attended a flora and fauna lecture there

Beth also introduced me to her holistic veterinarian, and we are both believers in the work of chiropractors.  We like history, books and reading, and all things owl.
We are both adamant anti-declaw, and docking tails and ears.
Also, staunch adversaries of animal testing, and eating organic, natural foods.

I am thankful for Beth; we are birds of a feather who flock together!

On Consignment

Kitty Cast Iron Doorstop
Shhh...don't tell The Hubby!
I may have a slight problem with acquiring cat statues, pins, scarves, etc.  I really have more stuff than I need, but let's just say that I'm a collector.

So, when friend BG and I visited Ditto Consignments & Design in New Baltimore, Michigan (right on Lake St. Clair!), I immediately headed for the cat display.  Oh yeah, the folks who run this store hooked me like a largemouth bass!  There were cat paintings, cat toys, cat dolls, and cat doorstops.  I grabbed the kitty above, minutes before a couple showed up to paw through the cat collection too!  There was also cat items displayed about the entire place; one has to search a bit, to uncover wonderful treasures.  What fun!

Collecting stuff is not new to me; I have a Star Trek, Original Series book and game collection; a ton of Sherlock Holmes things; "The X-Files" TV show EVERYTHING, and quite a supply of Haunted Michigan books.   The trick is to carry such treasures past The Hubby, without his noticing that I've got another armload of stuff!  If he's spotted my new doorstop, he hasn't said anything.

The Cleveland Museum of Art

Thank you all for the Blogoversary wishes!

Sorry that Paddy O'Malley's video was messed up...
it's all fixed now!

On Friday, September 21, my friend Beth and I drove from Detroit to Cleveland, Ohio, to visit the Cleveland Museum of Art.  We attended the Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors exhibition.  The Infinity Mirrors is a kind of performance art; most of the displays were mirrored rooms, that one stood inside and had the lights and artwork reflected back and forth, out to nothingness.  While I'll admit that modern art isn't my cup of tea, being a part of something that the one doesn't just observe but also takes part in, is quite fun!

This is a permanent display of
Yoyoi Kusama's art at the museum

Was like being in outer space!

Okay...it was a bit creepy, but interesting at the same time!

In this room, every visitor was given a page of dot stickers,
and we were instructed that we weren't allowed to leave until
we'd stuck all of our stickers in this room!
We couldn't stick them to ourselves, or the employees...
however...

Beth stacked her stickers into a face, while I searched for white space
to stick down my dots.  It was much more fun than you'd think!
After a delightful lunch in the museum cafe', we headed out to visit the rest of the museum:

Ancient Egyptian Cat coffin

Yep, that's George Washington!

One of Monet's Water Lilies

A Pollock
(I love Pollock!)

Tiffany Lamp

Warhol's "Marilyn x 100"
Seriously, we only saw two cats in the whole museum, and both were in the Ancient Egyptian area.  C'mon, Cleveland!  We know there are lots of cat lovers there; get some more cat art!  Sheesh!

Trip Recap: What I Brought

Trip Recap starts here: I'm Back!!!

Just because I didn't see any cats while in The UK, doesn't mean they didn't come with me...sorta!  I wore my house-and-cat earrings during the entire trip, and carried two cat totes; one for ease of packing, and the second is my every day, carry-all.  Both totes were gifts.  "All You Need Is Love And A Cat" tote was given to me by DY, and the Laurel Burch Twin Cat tote from BG!

This set of earrings was purchased long ago,
at a now defunct store, that carried items for
cats, for cat people, was a cat boarding business,
AND a cat rescue!  I miss that place!

A gift while on last year's trip
to Minneapolis

BG knows what I like!  Yeah, it's gained a few
marks and stains, but it's tough and big enough for my junk!

The rest of my wardrobe consisted of: short and long-sleeved t-shirts, jeans and pedal pushers, fleece pullovers, hats, good walking shoes, and scarves!  I was at first intimidated with my clothing choices, believing that the good folk of London were always in the highest of fashion, but it quickly became apparent that comfort is king...unless you are a 20-something clubbing female!  Which is pretty far off the mark to me; crazy lady with cats, who's head was on a swivel as I tried to get an eyeful of everything.  My tote allowed me to carry water, handfuls of raw almonds or sunflower seeds, mints, maps, bus passes, my arm sling (wore my left hand and wrist in the brace ALL OF THE TIME), and a pullover, if needed.  Also was a terrific place to carry my purchases, of which there were many...and to be revealed in future posts.

2018 Calendars: Artist Christina Hess

Am I lucky or what?  My friend BG gave me a gift bag full of cool stuff for the holidays!

Chili Bruce, get outta the way!

Calendar, candies, book and tote!

"William Shakesbeard"

"Slothespine Baker"

"King Tutankhameow"
Are these drawings beautiful or what?  Gorgeous!

My photos don't do the artwork justice, but I hope that you get the idea.  The calendar is "Animals From History", and there is "Leif Roverson", "Dog Sinatra", "Kitty Roosevelt" and "Pocafawntas" too.  So imaginative, and delightful!  Thanks, BG!

Home and Garden Walk

This Saturday, Chucky allowed me to leave home after taking photos him in the sunshine. I attended a Home and Garden Walk in historic Palmer Woods, Detroit Michigan, with friend BG.  I did NOT see any cats, but that was because they were safely behind closed doors. We visited about fifteen different homes.  Thought you might enjoy some of my photos:

I like the way Chuck's black fur is different colors!

Such a luscious garden!

Home designed and built by Frank Lloyd Wright

Wonderful pond at the

Metal sculptures of goats

This particular home had two beehives in the garden

If you bigify, you'll see toy cars and trucks at
the top of each metal circle
This was in someone's front yard

Fountain and garden

It took a lot for me to keep from jumping in this fountain!

Funky birdhouses

This is a master-bedroom shower,
big enough for a few people, methinks!
Had a lovely time, and now I want a fountain in my backyard too!  I'll leave the beehives to someone else.
