HB Chuck & Angel!

July 18, 2004 was the birthday of Celestial Chuck and Angel!

Their mama had four kittens; we adopted two.

I've called them twins, which isn't exact, but what the hey, right?

For Caturday, we've artified one of our favorite images of Chuck and Angel in Lunapic, K3 art effect.

Click on the image to enjoy a jigsaw puzzle.

My tattoo!

❤️Happy Heavenly Birthday Angel and Chuck, and we miss you.❤️

HB T.Hanks!

 Tom Hanks: actor and activist.

Born July 9, 1956.

Am a fan, and appreciate that he takes on difficult roles.

Haven't seen all of his films, but the ones that I will rewatch again are:

A League of Their Own (1992)
The Road to Perdition (2002)
Catch Me If You Can (2002)
Sully (2016)
A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (2019)

I also recommend his collection of typewriter short stories: Uncommon Type, published in 2017.

Right now in theaters in the U.S. and maybe elsewhere, is Toy Story 5, with Tom voicing Sheriff Woody, and comedian Tim Allen (who grew up in Metro Detroit like me*) as Buzz Lightyear.

In honor of Tom Hanks' birthday, here are a few photos and memes for your entertainment:

Chili Bruce wearing a Sheriff Woody hat.

Don't go anywhere with Tom Hanks! 😹

Disclaimer:
Weird, I know, but I am NOT a fan of the Disney empire, and mention the Toy Story franchise of films, and merchandise only due to Tom Hanks' involvement, and is not intended to sell anything.

Tom Hanks Trivia:
President Abraham Lincoln's mother, Nancy Hanks, is a direct relative.
Tom and Abraham are third cousins, four times removed.
🎩

*Yeah, let's face it, I may technically be an adult, but retirement is allowing me to enjoy life like a young'un again, so 'grown up' isn't a term that I'd use for myself.

Tea Day

21 April is British National Tea Day!

Tea holds a special place in the hearts of the British, and National Tea Day in the UK, coincides with the Late Queen Elizabeth II's birthday.

I enjoy tea: Earl Grey, Green Tea with Mint, and Peppermint Tea.

No additives, just hot tea!

Cusp

It's Sweetnesday!

Our Swee Wee isn't chowing down her chow, so I've been carrying her food bowl to her to tempt her into taking a few licks.

This works, but a Churu works even better!

I was successful with one pilling (appetite stimulant), and utter failure at the second.

Me: 1
Sweetie: 1
We visit the vet on Monday for Solensia, and I'll powwow with the experts.
~
Another trip around the Sun, and it's my birthday today.

Also, wishing Happy Birthday to Brian's Home Blog catmom.

I've only met a handful of folks who share my birthday, and it usually occurs on the First Day of Spring.

Had my horoscope professionally cast years ago, where I was diagnosed as a Pisces, but being born on the cusp of Aries means I really am combo of both.

Pisces: water sign + Aries: fire sign

Me: steam! 😹
I always take a day off from work for my birthday on principle, but the weather can be dicey.

That being said, below is my favorite image the tells it like it is:
Have a good day, y'all!

A Big Number

The Hubby had a significant birthday yesterday.

Not one for a fuss, he spent the day quietly, enjoying the ultra warm temps, and hanging with Manny, Chili Bruce, and Sweetie.
This video was taken in April, 2021.
Celestial Paddy O'Malley knew to love on all humans at Eastside Cats!

So very thankful for The Hubby, who calls himself a crazy cat man.

Vincent van Gogh's Birthday

Vincent Willem van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who posthumously became one of the most famous and influential figures in Western art history.

In a decade, he created about 2,100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings, most of which date from the last two years of his life.

Born: March 30, 1853, Zundert, Netherlands
Died: July 29, 1890, Auvers-sur-Oise, France

Periods: Post-Impressionism, Pointillism, Neo-Impressionism

And the subject of some comedy...
Disclaimer:
Images were copied from social media and used solely for the entertainment of our readers.

Am quite thankful for the colors, the talent, the detail that we all find in Vincent's works.

If you'd like to read about Vincent, his childhood, adulthood, and his artwork, I suggest:

I Did A Thing

The First Day of Spring!

And, for my birthday today, I'd like to reveal my new ink:
As Tat'O looks today.
Design
Done, in December 2022.
My friends, I mourn for Paddy O'Malley in ways I'd never thought of.

Some will consider this tattoo rather bizarre, yet it soothes my soul.

On the first anniversary of his death, an idea began to formulate: I'd be able to see his goofiness if I had a permanent image of him.

Pondering for months, I then researched tattoo parlors, tattoo artists, and gathered my favorite PO'M images.

I threw my trust into The Universe, and stepped forward.

You may wonder why I dislike Winter, but it's really that, like a child, I cannot wait for my birthday, usually in the First Day of Spring.

Happy Spring everyone, and Happy Birthday to others who have 20 March as their natal day, such as Brian's mum at Brian's Home.

And this Tat'O was my present to me, although Paddy O'Malley was the true gift in my life.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

22 May 1859 – 7 July 1930
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Legendary creator of the Sherlock Holmes character

I've been a fan of Sherlock Holmes since a child.
However, in today's world, the Victorian-era stories are sometimes ponderous, archaic, and often racist, even if ripping good mysteries.

What one enjoys, is the brilliance and antics of the great consulting detective.

These days, I enjoy the pastiche stories of The Mary Russell series, written by Laurie R. King.
If you think Holmes was brilliant, wait to you are introduced to Mary!

I collect items that are a mix of that great detective, and cats!
Found on the interwebs
Image of Artemis and Apollo, from "The Maine Coone Life"
Image from a shirt of mine
Pusheen dressed as Sherlock Holmes!

So, here is a Lunapic artification,

Yay...Spring!

The Vernal Equinox is today; we've all waited for Old Man Winter to retire, and today it happens!  Regardless of the continuation of cold weather, at least we know things are on the right track.  In addition, today is another anniversary, of sorts...it's my natal day!  Too many years ago to count, but it's a thrill to be associated with the change of seasons.  Long ago, I worked for a company that gave every employee a paid day off on their birthday, and I've continued that tradition for myself ever since.

Welcome, Spring!

Happy Almost Gotcha Day, Patty!

Patty would rather that I pet him than take his photo
My Patty Oh, from this morning
Patty O'Malley appeared in our yard in the Winter of 2011-2012.  I trapped him on 3/19/12, and transported him to All About Animals on 3/20 for neuter and shots.  When I picked him up on 3/21 (it was 76 degrees F that day!) and released him, I was worried that he'd run away and not return.  But he was back again for dinner, and he has pretty much stuck around since then.

Now, you'd think that I named him Patrick O'Malley because of St. Patrick's Day, but you would be wrong.  With his green eyes, fur the multifaceted colors of a pint of Guinness Stout, and his charming, lovable ways as if he'd kissed The Blarney Stone...well, a fine Irish name seemed appropriate.  The Hubby was calling him 'Tiger', but there is no doubt that O'Mallus (a nickname) is perfectly named!

Now for some news: I'm going on vacation!  Well, some staycation, and then a visit with family.  Some of this is cat and wildlife related!

Bluebelles from our front garden, taken in 2016
Saturday:
Chuck's follow-up veterinary visit in the morning, and then a drive to the Detroit Institute of Arts to see Kedi Film at the Detroit Film Theatre.  Here is a blurb about the movie:

"Hundreds of thousands of Turkish cats roam the metropolis of Istanbul freely. For thousands of years they’ve wandered in and out of people’s lives, becoming an essential part of the communities that make the city so rich. Claiming no owners, the cats of Istanbul live between two worlds, neither wild nor tame — and they bring joy and purpose to those people they choose to adopt. In Istanbul, cats are the mirrors to the people, allowing them to reflect on their lives in ways nothing else could."

Sunday:
"Books and Cats and Other Stuff Too" at Catfe Lounge in Ferndale, Michigan.

Monday:
The First Day Of Spring!
And my birthday; gonna hang with The Hubby and let him spoil me...hehehe!  Which will include: thrift shopping, lunch at The Pita Cafe, and some quiet time with Angel and Chuck, and Patty and Sweetie.

Tuesday:
My friend BG and I are traveling to Kensington Metropark Nature Center and Howell Nature Center to commune with Mother Nature, and maybe take a few snaps of her bird, tree, and critter children.

Wednesday:
My first manicure & pedicure, plus an hour massage!  YUM!

Thursday:
A trip to John K. King Used and Rare Books in Detroit, and maybe to their Ferndale location, where they have an office cat, I've heard.

Friday through Sunday:
Fly to Georgia to rendezvous with family for a 50th wedding celebration.  I haven't seen many folks from my father's family since his passing in 2004, and am looking forward to connecting again with everyone!

Therefore, my blogging may be sparse next week.

Wishing you all a Happy St. Patrick's Day,
and Vernal Equinox 2017!

Patty usually stayed a distance away back then

Happy 11th, Angel and Chuck!

Wrastlin'

Kitten Chuck

Kitten Angel
Angel and Chuck turn 11 years old today!  Above photos from when they were kittens.
A rare together shot

Happy B'day, Chuck!

Happy B'day, Angel!
And some more recent photos.  I'd invite y'all to come for a party, but for now we are keeping things here rather low key so Chuck can build up his strength.  Each day, he ventures out of his bed a little bit longer, and investigates a wider territory than before.  Made the hubby put a room air-conditioner in the window, just so Chuck can stay in a less humid area during our sudden heat snap.  But hey, it's July in Michigan...we should expect this, instead of it being unusual!  Have a fantastic Caturday, my friends!

P.S. If you are in Macomb County, Michigan today, stop by Petco at 23 Mile and Gratiot Avenue from 12 noon to 3 pm to check out Paws For The Cause adoption event.  I'll be there!

Chuck Update

Thank you all for your warm wishes for Chuck's recovery.  Per the vet, Chuck does NOT have thyroid issues nor is he diabetic...whew!  He does have a heart murmur though; she called it a 'gallop', and wants an ultrasound done.  In addition, it's obvious that he's got something going on with his intestines, which deserve an ultrasound too, per the vet.  She called it Irritable Bowl Disease.  Chuck is eating a bit more at every meal, but he's definitely staying very quiet and has not been stealing my socks.  We will continue with all the meds until gone, and keep analyzing his progress.

Angel has stopped hissing at me, yet still goes after Chuck once in awhile.  Hopefully this weekend will bring an end to that.  The hubby and I understand that she still smells the vet's office on him, so she is just reacting naturally, so we give her lots of love when she is AWAY from Chuck.

On the funny side, we received a call from the veterinarian that I took Patty and Sweetie to this spring, see here for details.  Somehow, their notes show that Patty's birthday is coming up, and were wishing him a Happy Birthday!  Hahahaha!  Patty is feral; we have no idea when his birthday is, and it just tickled our funny bone to get that call.

However, there are birthdays to be celebrated soon...see my post tomorrow!
