Disclaimer:
No cats...or humans...were harmed in the photo shoot of
these gorgeous creations!
All cats simply lounged photogenically while wearing their soft shirts.
The Hubby (who is a bonafide Hippie From The 60's) likes my
tie dyed shirt, so that is high praise indeed, and I LURV wearing multicolors!

Thanks SO MUCH to Trish and Scott!

Window Wednesday

Chili Bruce loves the window in our downstairs bathroom, which is currently being remodeled.  He wedges himself inside, even though there really isn't enough room for him.

Don't worry, The Hubby has nailed the screen into the outside frame, so CB won't fall out...no matter how hard he pushes!

CB is deft...
...and determined...

...to wedge himself in that window!

Sunday In the Sunshine

My hand surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, so I spent lots of quiet time with the kitties yesterday.

"Mom!  I'm sleeping here!"

Manny, left...
Chili Bruce, right

Sweetie, and snowdrops

Something is coming up!

The POM is keeping it real

Sweetie watches The POM and me from
the corner of the barn

Seriously, this cat is just too funny!
Even one-handed, I can pick up and snuggle kitties...whether they want to or not!  Today, the office is fairly quiet, so I'm attempting to get caught up...ha!

Update: Angel v. Da Boyz

Angel, playing yesterday morning
We have been practicing site swapping, with Angel upstairs, then downstairs, and Da Boyz downstairs, then upstairs.  If they ever met on either side of a closed door, there was hissing, growling, and paws flying.  And Angel was meowing, meowing, meowing all day long, no matter where she was.

Therefore, The Hubby and I decided last week that everyone will be kept apart.  Angel now is full time upstairs, living in the area that used to be an apartment.  There are four rooms, plenty of windows, perches, beddies, toys, etc.  This is where Angel and Chuck used to live when they first came home with us as wee kittens.  Angel is also on a mild mood stabilizer, temporarily.

Manny and Chili Bruce occupy downstairs, which includes the front room, dining room and back hall (and the kitchen, if some person forgets to latch the screen door), with many catification climbers, scratchers, boxes, beddies, toys, windows, and of course, the human(s) during the daytime.  When it's meal time the humans, we 'park' them in the front parlor, so we can eat in peace without two cat noses in our vegan sloppy joes, salads, or oat meal.  Both cats have each grabbed a sandwich right out of our hands, and run off with it, and who cannot forget The Struggle Is Real post!

Thank you Pamela Merritt from The Way Of Cats Blog, for answering my questions, and being encouraging when we were at our wit's end.  Point of note: Feliway Diffusers have done nothing.  Thanks also to all of my blogging and non-blogging friends, who've offered one-on-one encouragement, and the benefit of their own experiences with similar situations.  You know who you are, and I appreciate all of your help.

This situation is far from settled; we will keep working with Angel, Manny and Chili Bruce to see if relations can be re-established.  For this past week, this new set-up has worked.  No humans are being driven from the house, and no cats are ready to attack...well, except Da Boyz who must have a tussle or two every day.  Brothers...!!!

Angel is VERY bonded to The Hubby, and recognizing this key to her emotional strife has helped all of us.  He knows that he must spend quiet time and playtime with her a few times a day.  We will rearrange some furniture so he can comfortably interact with her AND keep his old, creaky bones comfortable too.  Of course, I too share Angel's space often, but it's really The Hubby who makes her heart go pitter-pat.  Obviously, I don't mind sharing him with another female; after all, I have The PO'M who is my boyfriend...

We Won!

http://www.thedailypip.com/2018/02/smiling-paws-pets-expandable-pet.html

And...Eastside Cats WON!

Packed up!

Everything: case, carrier, mat & shoulder strap

Open on the ends

Sides and ends open

Mat in bottom
Thank you, The Daily Pip for this wonderful Smiling Paws Pets Expandable Soft Sided Pet Carrier!  It's crazy large, and there are plenty of configurations and set ups to satisfy any furry friend.  Although airline approved, it's most likely our carrier will house napping cats at present, but it may spur us into jaunts with Manny and Chili Bruce.

They like the box, at least!
Again, thank you The Daily Pip and Smiling Paws Pets!  Trust me, any future fun with this carrier will be duly photographed and posted about.

Thankful Thursday: YOU!

Yes...you!  You, who are reading this post; I am thankful for every one of you!

Manny is curled up, while
Chili Bruce decided he needed to 'air it out'

I appreciate the words of encouragement and suggestions for improvement of the integration process.  The sheer, gut-wrenching emotion of yesterday has dissipated, but the wound needs time to scar over.  Maybe we can blame it all on the full-blue-red-super-eclipse moon?!?

This was the best I could do!

So, let's get HOPPING!  Thanks, Brian's Home Blog, for sponsoring!

Twinsy Twosday

Manny in back,
Chili Bruce in front
Manny and Chili Bruce often sleep together, usually with legs entwined, or bodies overlapping.  Hard to tell where one cat starts, and the other ends!

The double-wide scratcher beddy is a favorite napping spot.

What The ? Wednesday

Umm...
I discovered this last night.  I presume that it's handcuffs...er, um..."faucet cuffs" to prevent Manny and Chili Bruce from turning on the water, but I never asked The Hubby about it.  I think I'll just remain silent on this one.

Thanks for all the comments on yesterday's post.  A couple of you recommended "Cat vs Cat" by Pamela Johnson Bennett, and I'm pretty darn sure that I have a copy in my cat library, so I've got some reading to do this weekend!

But not tonight; a new episode of "The X-Files" is on!

2018 Calendars: Artist Christina Hess

Am I lucky or what?  My friend BG gave me a gift bag full of cool stuff for the holidays!

Chili Bruce, get outta the way!

Calendar, candies, book and tote!

"William Shakesbeard"

"Slothespine Baker"

"King Tutankhameow"
Are these drawings beautiful or what?  Gorgeous!

My photos don't do the artwork justice, but I hope that you get the idea.  The calendar is "Animals From History", and there is "Leif Roverson", "Dog Sinatra", "Kitty Roosevelt" and "Pocafawntas" too.  So imaginative, and delightful!  Thanks, BG!

Book Review: The Vanishing of Katharina Linden

Published August 10th 2010 by Delacorte Press (first published April 1st 2009)
ISBN 0385344171 (ISBN13: 9780385344173)
Edition Language: English
Hardcover, 287 pages

Actually finished a book!
I discovered this book at the public library, because...it's got a cat on the cover!  The story takes place in Germany, and the book begins with a most unusual and fantastic death in young Pia Kolvenbach life.  She grits out her school years as a pariah, trying to enjoy life with her English-born mother and German father.

Then, Katharina Linden...and several other young girls...disappear!  In broad daylight, in the middle of a town festival, just like the girls that 'ran away' many years ago.  Coincidence, or the supernatural, as Pia and her kind-of friend Stefen believe?

Why the publisher put a cat on the cover?  Pluto, the black cat, makes a few appearances, and there is one spooky tall tale about Hans and the spooky cats that surround him one dark night.  But cats are only a sidebar to Helen Grant's novel, and it was still a great read.

This book is the first one that I've read since Manny and Chili Bruce joined the family.  The Hubby and I spend a lot of time playing with them, and snuggling with Angel and Da Boyz, and reading was put on hold.  Now that the dust is beginning to settle, I managed to read the book over the weekend while The Hubby watched football games, and the cats snoozed contentedly, albeit Angel in her beddy at one end of the table, and Manny and CB curled up together in the double-wide scratcher at the other end.

No cat may enter the center de-militarized zone without human approval!
