Thankful Thursday: Not For New Toy!

...without a cat anywhere nearby!
Someone thought a new type of toy would bring out the kitten in Angel and Chuck.  That person was full of glee when the toy was sniffed, and the scratchy pad in the middle was scratched.

But no cat touched the ball, and it's been sitting silently on the floor since that first 30 seconds of cat inquisitiveness.  Someone feels crestfallen.

:::sigh:::

And yet, I am thankful for my kitties, because they don't think like I do, and they teach me to eat when I'm hungry, sleep when tired, meow at the trash collectors, and purr when things feel SO GOOD!

  1. We have two of those that nobody touched, until Simon, he loves them! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  2. Sometimes, it takes awhile. Try pushing the ball around yourself and see if anyone shows any interest. Good luck.

  3. Don't feel bad...we have one of those and a fancier one sitting around here...that no cat will play with.

  4. And someday down the road I bet one of them will surprise you by suddenly playing with it!

  5. Maybe if you sprinkle some nip in the track section? Or put it outside for your other kitties.

  7. We like to keep our hoomins guessing. Totally a cat thing.

  8. We have that toy in blue! It's one of the very first toys we got for Goro, and he loves it! I put other scratcher and sometimes tissues over it so that the toy is half covered. Goro loves to peek under those covers and push and hunt the ball :-)

  9. Maybe the ball would be more enticing if someone gave it a shove.

  10. Ha ha! This reminds me of the infamous "Twinkle Chute Incident." Several years ago, I picked out a really fun tunnel thingy for our cats for Christmas. It had lights and everything! I was sure they would love it. They never touched it. :(

  11. All my girls have loved these trackballs. Katie still, after 5 years, goes over to throw the ball around the track with her mighty paw! She has an elongated one too, a race track.. in "her" room, the computer room and she likes that one too. You do have to show them and I liked Miss Ellen's idea of putting one out for the outside kitties.

  12. We all did that sniff-and-ignore thing with a similar toy. Mom finally donated it to Animal Humane...where with any luck new cats would do the same with it. ;-)

  13. Only Walker will play with this toy, and not very frequently. Only if you put nip on it.

  14. A couple years ago, I got Bear Cat the figure 8 turbo track toy and he's whacked the ball in it exactly two times since then. Ellie LOVES it ... talk about a little bit of redemption :)

  15. Our Sadie loves the scratcher part on the Turbo Scratcher! I replace the cardboard regularly.

  16. We have one of those and the scratchy part was destroyed in under a week. Since then, it's been ignored for the most part. Time to put it in the closet and bring it back out in a year and then, like magic, it will be new again!

  17. I have seen cat toys without that cardboard in the middle, and with the ball, and the cats can play with it for hours!

  18. Don't be sad. Dat's a great toy. But, ours site silent fur weeks on end, and then suddenly we'll play fur hours. Then silent again. MOL You just never know with us kitties. Big hugs

  19. Oh yes, we have toys like that in our house, too! Sniffed, but then untouched. I just put them in the foster room now. :-)
