Very disturbing news arrived yesterday, Monday March 31:

Happy Cat Sanctuary has burned; devastating loss of life:

Deadly fire at Happy Cat Sanctuary on Long Island under investigation; one dead

It is reported that Owner Chris Arsenault was the victim, as well as many cats.

Our hearts are broken over this terrible incident.

At this point, Jaegers Run Animal Rescue is assisting with the immediate needs of the cats, as is Strong Island Animal Rescue League, if you'd care to donate.

April 1 is April Fools' Day, so let's be cheeky:

As a kid, we used to play tricks on our siblings, such as putting globs of wet tissue on the floor at bedtime, so bare feet would step on them.

As an adult, I've had a few tricks played on me, such as someone saying it's their birthday, but it's not.

    We read about the fire at the sanctuary and that it may well have been arson. So tragic.

    Such terrible news about the fire. I didn't know Chris, but he died as he lived - saving lives. Godspeed, Mr Arsenault, and Godspeed to all those cats you are taking with you as you go on before.
