Chiroptera Cheers

4/17 is International Bat Appreciation Day
Bats are crucial members of the environment.

They provide pest control, disease control, and even medical assistance to humans.

Bats are responsible for the pollination and seed dispersal of many plant species and help with plant regrowth after fires and habitat destruction.

Without bats, we wouldn’t have things like tequila, bananas, mango, and avocados.
We are thankful for bats.

Bats are flying mammals of the order Chiroptera.

Let's Hop!

  1. We have pipistrelle bats here and they get under the barn roof to hibernate for winter. They have started coming out again now and I like to watch them flying at dusk.

  2. I really like bats and I can't wait until I start seeing them fly here early in the morning or late in the evening. Don't guess they've migrated back yet. Our city park system building monster bat house that's as big as a house garage. Don't know if they've ever managed to get any bats to stay in it but I can't imagine why not.
