Shy Willie

We are thankful today as less snow fell than was predicted!

Here are two videos of Willie, the long-haired cat who visits us once in awhile.

'He's' named Willie, after a character in the "Outlander" series.
And a video of Celestial Paddy O'Malley (listen to him squeak!) made during a similar snowfall years ago.

Tracks

Evidence of outside cats from this morning!
This image is taken from Sweetie's upstairs apartment window.
The cats go from under the neighbor's deck at the top of the photo, to our sump pump discharge puddle, then into our yard.
More tracks to and from the alley out back.
The sidewalk is a virtual pawprint highway!
Walkway in front of our house.
Although there are tracks, we do not often see the critters!

Are they stray cats, owned but outside cats, or feral?  Dunno yet!

I put out fresh water every morning, and will leave kibble if I see a cat in the area.

The draw is strong to the sump pump puddle, yet no one is yet making a habit of enjoying the kibble.

New O Cats

We've had some visitors...
The long-haired cat in the middle photo is seen most often.

None are showing up with any kind of regularity, so I replace the water every morning, but don't put out food unless I see a cat nearby.

They'll learn that my presence means it's chow time!

We are thankful for The O Cats from before, who taught us a few things about luring strays in.

Always, Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return is our goal, if the cats have no owners.

"If you feed 'em, fix 'em" is our motto.

Snow Bunny Paddy

PO'Monday!

The PO'M is thriving during our frigid weather.
This is what I saw as I stepped out first thing in the morning...
...and the culprit who made those tracks!
Water bucket, frozen.
I break out the ice, and refill it twice each day, so Paddy has access to fresh water.
The PO'M is sitting on my chest.
When I'm bundled up in heavy winter gear, spending time outdoors is quite delightful!

Find The Beauty

Yes, it's very cold outside!

The snow falls, and the wind blows.

And yet, there is beauty.

Can you see the sparkles?
Pawprints
A Winter sunset

At first, this bitter cold put me in an emotional tailspin.

Worrying about The PO'M, being anxious about our old house, and the idea of my daily walks in sub-zero temps made me upset.

I've adjusted, however, and I'm out there walking, and I spend time with P'Ommy in my lap, and there is nothing as luscious as a toasty bath before bedtime!

I am thankful that I have a roof over my head, the means to keep a warming pad in The Cat Hotel, time to snooze on the futon with Da Boyz on top, and watching Sweetie as she observes the snow falling outside the windows.

A Cat For All Seasons

PO'Monday!

The wind blows...
The sky is grey...
Making tracks in the snow...

The PO'M is the master of it all, no matter what the thermometer reads!

Thankful Thursday: Sunshine

Taken this morning at 8 am
So very thankful for the rays of sunshine that graced us today.  It was only 9 degrees F, but having the light makes one think of warmer days ahead.  And, of course, seeing The PO'M's and Sweetie's dancing pawprints in the snow, tells me that they are weathering the Winter weather...and that's something to be thankful for too. πŸ’—
