It's Twozday!

Manny and Chili Bruce have migrated to the corner beddy in the parlor, as the overnight temps have fallen here.

The multifaceted snuggling positions have me fascinated.

The Hubby hopes that my constant pic-taking doesn't disturb the sleepers, but seriously, as if cats would EVER not get enough sleep!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

Eastside Cats is thankful for miraculously winning two prizes in a row!
We guessed Kizmet's toe beans, and were correct.
We threw our paw in the air for a red-white-and-blue shirt, and we won!
Cheeto at Cats Veterinary, Clinton Township Michigan

We received a HUGE boxful of stuff from The Cat On My Head; see the top pic.

Another package arrived from 15AndMeowing, and Manny was pressed into service; see 2nd pic.

The third pic is Cheeto, a resident cat at Cats Veterinary, where Chili Bruce and Manny were being treated in an unmannerly way (according to them) yesterday morning.

That why Manny was easy to dress, as all of his fight was gone.

Those bald patches on Manny's head, plus scabs or sores on his chinny-chin-chin made The Hubby nervous, and he decided it was time for an expert opinion.

CB went along too, just in case they share some skin issue.

While Da Boyz were having a blood draw, a pawdicure, and other indignities, Cheeto wandered into the room to help me destress by allowing me to love on his amble ginger torso.

We are additionally thankful that we have a great veterinary staff, as they found really nothing wrong with Manny (unless the chin area doesn't clear up in a reasonable timeframe) but CB lost a bit of weight and has some bad toofs.

Dental for CB is scheduled for July 21.

Could be that CB was overgrooming is brofur due to his ouchie mouth, thereby causing the bald patches.

Thank you, The Cat On My Head and 15AndMeowing, and Cheeto too.

The Brow

It's Twozday!

Manny is our focus today, as the bald areas over his eyes make him look like he's worried.

First reported this on Siblings Day in April.
Just chillin'
Pensive
This is where Manny hides from CB.

We've discovered that Manny no longer has any eyebrow whiskers; you know, the one's that stick up from a cat's head.

A quick internet search says this isn't unusual, and that they will grow back.

Due to Manny's appearance, it's much easier for the humans to tell the two cats apart.

However, if his bald spots disappear and his eyebrows reappear, we'll be happy all the same.

With A Sib Like That...

"Siblings Day is a holiday recognized in parts of the United States and Canada on April 10, and as Brothers and Sisters Day on May 31 in Europe.

In India, Raksha Bandhan is observed on the last day of the Hindu lunar calendar month of Shravana, which typically falls in August."

The above borrowed from online sources.

At Eastside Cats, our resident siblings have an odd relationship:
Manny, using his human as a cat bed...but wait, what is that?...
Looking closer, it seems Manny has a bald patch!

It's not the usual cat bald patch; this one (and on the other side) is pronounced.
And we know whom the over-licky culprit is.
Yes, it's sibling Chili Bruce!

For a brief moment, someone who will remain anonymous was fearing all kinds of cat diseases, symptoms, etc, until The Hubby gave testimony that he's watched CB give his brofur some serious bathing.

Whew...am thankful for that...

Or am I...er, um...hmmm...

Baldy

It's PO'Monday!

April, 2019

Celestial Paddy O'Malley enjoyed the bright Spring sunshine.
It seemed that every year, The PO'M would have some injury.

In 2019, he'd licked a bare patch on his belly.

Other years, he'd scratched himself so much that he was covered in scabs, or have a large patch of fur missing.

Perhaps these were signs of the illness that later took him.

The couple of vet visits that we'd managed, as I had to trap him, proved fairly unhelpful.

Was told each time that he'd have probably healed on his own, so they gave him antibiotics, then patted both of our heads, to send us on our way.

After that, I used holistic and DIY injury care on The PO'M.

Let's face it...he did it his way.

Grinworthy

It's PO'Monday!
Images of Celestial Paddy O'Malley, taken in June, 2020.

Paddy often had a bare spot on his tummy, or wounds and scratches, or missing tufts of fur.

He always healed, and the fur grew back, despite my rubbing salve into this or that.

The Many Faces of PO'M

PO'Monday!

It's been hot here, and our area had torrential rains a few days ago, with the result that many folks were flooded.

Thankfully, Eastside Cats was spared, but we are purring for those who've got piles of soaked and destroyed items sitting at the curb, ready to be taken away by the garbage trucks.

To brighten things up, here is my love Paddy, showing his many moods:

His ever-so-ernest look
"Wake up and bring food!"
Territorial
"Watch me scope out the yard!"
Silly
"I love you!"

There is a patch of fur missing from PO'M's tummy, and it's gotten worse as the season progresses.

Not at all sure why he licks himself bald.

In an attempt to help him, since I cannot just grab him and take him to the veterinarian, The Hubby and I removed the straw for The Cat House, and carefully placed freshly laundered bath towels inside.

Of course, cloth is DANGEROUS when the temperatures are near the freezing mark, since the fabric holds moisture and can be deadly if it turns to ice.

This is a temporary warm-weather experiment, to see if the straw is the culprit (which is The Hubby's theory, and I'm going along because my half-dozen trials and errors have had zero effect!)

Bass Terd Burds

Trout Talking Tabbies...do not read any further!
I purposely used Bass Terd Burds as today's title, to warn you away!

At my office, a pair of Canada Geese have chosen the front door are of one of our buildings to nest near.

We've added caution tape and signs telling everyone to go around!
In addition, I attended "Owl Fest" at Lake St. Clair Metropark last Saturday.  How cool to be within a few feet of these beautiful creatures.

Barred Owl

Eastern Screech Owl

Saw Whet Owl

Long Eared Owl

Peregrine Falcon
Needless to say, since we've had warmer temperatures in Michigan, all of the inside Eastside Cats are enjoying plenty of window time, watching the robins, wrens, and chickadees.  The 'O' Cats appear to be indifferent to birds, at least when I'm around.

Speaking of The 'O' Cats:

The PO'M is not modest!
Paddy O'Malley has a big bald spot on his belly!  I have no idea what this is about; is he over grooming?  He has a couple of other bald spots, which look like chunks of his fur were pulled out.  He always seems itchy.  We may have to try new foods, to see if there is any change.  In spite of his missing fur, The PO'M is as lovey dovey as ever.

Two Butt Thursday

Chucky Two Butt is a topic that I've touched on before.  After the vet shaves his tail for a blood-pressure reading, Chuck sports a little pinkish bare spot, which from a certain angle, looks like he's got two 'starfish'...if you know what I mean!  The Hubby calls him "Chucky Two Butt".

Here are photos from this morning; you can plainly see that Chuck's tail has a whole ring of missing fur.  Over two months ago, the vet shaved his tail, and there was a bit of a sore, which the cat just kept licking and licking.  The Hubby and I shaved around the way around, to affix a bandage to help heal the scab. But his fur is NOT growing back!  The neighbors must think he's got a touch of mange or something.

We visit the vet again in early August.  The sore spot is long gone. My poor Two Butt Chuck.

P.S. My Laurel Burch tote bag was a gift from friend BG, and I love it! It figures prominently in a future post...tease tease!
