Blessed Samhain

The All Saints' Day celebration was also called All-hallows or All-hallowmas (from Middle English Alholowmesse meaning All Saints' Day) and the night before it, the traditional night of Samhain in the Celtic religion, began to be called All-Hallows Eve and, eventually, Halloween.

Happy Halloween, y'all!

Thankful Thursday

Isn't this an adorable greeting card?

It's PURRFECT for us!

This will be framed, and added to one of my three cat art collections.

It's a condolence card for our Angel, yet the knowledge of Da Boyz included makes it go straight to my heart.

Thank you, sis!

Thank you, Four-Legged Furballs!
A Halloween tote, a HUGE package of Temptations treats, two packets of cat-nip toys, and some candy that didn't make it to the photo shoot...hahaha!

Can you just imagine a photo of Manny and Chili Bruce, each playing with a black cat toy?

Bad Collared Cat Mom

Our twins
Who is Whom?

Manny

Chili Bruce
Yes, I feel like a rotten, poor example of a Cat Mom.  I cannot tell Da Boyz apart since Chili Bruce lost his one white whisker, and although The Hubby claims he can...he's fibbing.  I dug through my drawer of cat goodies (which includes unopened toys waiting to be doled out, half-empty medicine bottles, and flea and tick prevention packets), and I found the velvet safety Coolcatcollars that I posted about here last year.  Manny is wearing the Blueberry Blue collar, and Chili Bruce sports the Rosewater Pink one.  In the top photo of them sleeping, you cannot even SEE the collars!  We put them on Da Boyz last night, and first thing this morning, I was able to call each cat by his rightful name without hesitation.  And other than Manny giving his new collar a good scratch, both of them seem to be unfazed.

What mother can't tell their babies apart?  A unworthy one, that's for sure!  Other than dyeing the tip of CB's ear (or bleaching it), this was the only solution I could think of.  Manny has a big white spot on his belly, and CB's fur is silkier and his tail fluffier, and he's heavier than Manny.  But I cannot pick them up to look at their undercarriage all the time, and two black cats next to each other at dawn or dusk are impossible...for me...to differentiate.

The joy of having these two brofurs in our lives, outweighs my mortification at collaring them.  They apparently don't care, and I now can tell one from the other.  And don't go all 'pink is for girls' on us; we are an open-minded, fly-the-rainbow-flag kind of tolerant household!

Introducing Chili Bruce Lee!

Chili, the picture of innocence...HA!

Chili Boxed

Chili in front with tail in the air, Manny behind
waiting for those magic doors to open!

Named Bruce Wayne by the animal rescue, we've played around with our boy's moniker until it's evolved into Chili Bruce Lee.  The veterinarian declared that Chili has some Oriental cat breed in him, as indicated by his body shape, glossy fur, and head shape...hence the 'Bruce Lee' extension to his name.  Chili has one white whisker, and is only a few ounces lighter than brother Manny.  If Manny's Alpha-cat personality ranks an 11 on the 1 to 10 scale, then Chili is about 8-1/2; still plenty full of energy, but he can quietly sit in a box too.  When the two of them hit the open door, all humans and cats WATCH OUT...the beasts are unleashed and you'd better stay out of their way!

Chili also licks my fleecy tops, and likes to lay on my legs, and then wriggle up to my chest for a nap.  Angel hisses at both of Da Boyz, however she's allowed Chili to sit near her for a couple of minutes in silence.  Chili will not let a morsel of food escape his notice!

I look forward to spending the upcoming work break with all of our cats, as the office is closed from 12/25/17 to 1/2/18.  Being in charge of several off-site and all-day work meetings this week, I've barely caught my breath.  And the substantial snowfall that occurred on Wednesday, ate up a lot of my free time due to driving VERY SLOWLY on the snow-choked roads.  I promise to visit all of my blogging friends soon!

Fierce Friday

Sweetie, showing off her toofs...very scary!

Chucky, looking mysterious and dangerous
Much attention is given to black cats at this time of year.  Personally, I've never met a cat that I didn't like, no matter what their fur color!  People who adopt according to color are WRONG; personality should always be the first consideration.  Let the cat choose you!

Have a terrific weekend, everyone!

Cat Dust

Spitty and Elliott are black cats like me?

Sure, show the world my dust!
King Spitty over at Spitty Speaks recently commented about Spitty Dust. And then, Elliott Stands With Spitty at blog William of Mass Destruction. Chucky, not wanting to be left out of the black-cat-fur-shows-everything conversation, graciously allowed me to capture a photo of his own dusty fur.

Chuck, I don't care about your dust...I'm gonna keep smooching you forever....er, um...furrever!  Pfft...pfft...pfft...

Black Cats

Chucky, doing the double dangle

Sweetie at the food station
Yesterday was Black Cat Appreciation Day, so today I want to show off my two ebony-colored cat friends. Chuck has been a great kitty, taking his twice-daily meds like a trooper and making sure his humans go to bed on time every night.  Little Miss Sweetie is a lover; she and I have long petting sessions almost every day.  She has a quiet meow that just melts my heart.

Farewell to Orbit

Our blog pal Orbit left us last week, and in his honor, here are photos of as many black cats I could find.  He was a curmudgeonly old kitty, and we will all miss him
