Missing!

It's Twozday, and we had a mystery on our hands:

Manny's favorite ribbon toy DISAPPEARED!

The Hubby searched.

I searched.

I search again and again.
"Missing!
Have you seen me?"
Manny was disconsolate.
"Where, oh where are you, my ribbon?"

Finally, on a hunch, I dug through the pile of newspapers.

And there it was!

Da Boyz were giddy with relief.

Well, Manny certainly was delighted.

CB prefers the bug-on-a-string toy.

Really, how the heck does one misplace a cat toy like this?

Weird, but thankfully, the mystery was solved.

(It's a Cat Dancer Cat Charmer, technically.  CB's toy is a Neko Flies Teaser Toy, and they are both really old, having been purchased when Celestial Chuck and Angel were little.)

PO'Marathon: Day 8

Celestial Paddy O'Malley even looked good from below!😹
Images from August, 2014

A wave of missing The PO'M hit me so hard yesterday afternoon, that it took my breath away.

The daily hours I spent in his presence are now used for reading or surfing the interwebs.

Less time being outside, in the gardens, breathing the air, communing with nature.

The backyard is empty now.

Was hoping the PO'Marathon would help shed the deep loneliness that I feel.

Maybe yes, maybe no: time will tell.

Thank you, readers, for traveling this road with me.

The Craggy Hole is Missing!

Author: Roth, Geneen.
Title: The craggy hole in my heart and the cat who fixed it: over the edge and back with my cat, my dad, and me
1st ed.
New York : Harmony Books, c2004.

LCCN: 2003023599

I am very fortunate to live in an area where the public libraries have a collective, meaning I can check out a book from any library in the group, and they bring it to my home library for me to pick up.  This is fabulous, because no one library has all the titles that it's surrounding community needs.  Trust me, I scour the card catalogs for cat books!  Weeks ago, I checked out Geneen Roth's "The Craggy Hole In My Heart And The Cat Who Fixed It" from the library near my office, read it and returned it to my home library. Unfortunately...somehow... the book is now missing!  Neither my home library nor the one it belongs to can find it, and kind librarians are now searching for it.

The book was only so-so, therefore I chose not to do a book review on it for this blog.  The cat is only a bit of the story, not a lot of the story, like "Dewey, The Library Cat" or "Homer's Odyssey".  Both of these are great books, and I highly recommend them!  But now, I'm calling libraries, asking if they've seen 'The Craggy Hole'! It's embarrassing, for one because I AM NEVER EVER LATE WITH MY BOOKS, and two...that weird title!

Oh well, things could be worse.  I am fortunate to have a librarian friend at my home library, a nice woman who recognizes my voice when I call.  And many of the desk attendants are curious to see what new cat book I've found to check out.  Cats and books go together, doncha know!  This is NOT a slam at the collective part of the library system in my area; please do not even consider that.  It's just one of those things, and "The Craggy Hole" now has a BOLO (be on look out) in Metro Detroit!

Cat Locked Up!

Freed Chuck
When I arrived home after work, the hubby said both Angel and Chuck were sleeping upstairs; Angel under my old wool sweater draped on a chair, and Chuck in his favorite box covered with a blanket.  Just as we finished dinner, I heard a knocking noise, and thought the neighbor's were working on their house next door.  However, a peek outside proved that no one was moving around.  I heard a scrambling sound, and a faint meowing.  I launched myself upstairs, and opened all the rooms and looked under the beds.  Found Angel, but I could not find Chuck.  I came downstairs again, and heard some more noises.  Up I went again, and this time I found him.  He had slipped into the coat closet, and couldn't get the door open once the hubby had closed it tight.  The hubby was very, VERY apologetic, and once Chuck was sprung from his couple-hour-long imprisonment (with the vacuum cleaner accessories), he didn't seem the worse for wear.

Moral of the story:  ALWAYS do a cat check!
