Another Piece of Yard Art: Polecat

Imagine my surprise when I met this pretty thing wandering the backyard!

Am thankful for the abundance in our yard; the animals, the plants, and that we have a few pence in our pockets to purchase a few artistic items for our pleasure.

Just so you know, I have some rocks too, but they aren't as cute as this skunk or our cat statues!

Purrsonally, I adore how skunks waddle.

Wild Walk

Although walking in my neighborhood is good exercise, a work break, and a great time to listen to an audiobook, it's not without dangers!
A skunk, who was very nervous when I stopped to look for my boyfriend Old Guy.
I backed away quickly; didn't want that skunk running toward me!
Old Guy was non-nonplussed.
Scary!
The gang...er, um...gaggle of Canada Geese made me walk all of the way around them, so they wouldn't rough me up.
Frightening!
Frozen kitty sniffs at frozen pup.
Last weekend was an ice-carving festival in town.
Freezing!
Sly: "Halt!  Who goes there?"
Me: "Sly, it's me, the lady who walks by daily."
Sly: "You cannot pass, not without the password!"
Me: "Um...how 'bout I give you some scritches?"
Sly: "That'll do!"
Bribery!

Yep, it can be dangerous in my 'hood!

Almost Finished?

Sweetnesday!

Sweetie returns to the veterinarian tomorrow, and we all hope that she won't need any more antibiotic capsules!
She's keeping her eyes on me.
When Sweetie wakes me up in the middle of the night, it's because she sees critters moving around outside.
This is a rotten photo of what I saw this morning at 4 am; the groundhog and skunk have made trails for themselves from our neighbor's porch, over into our yard.
Don't think she isn't comfortable around here; she is!
And, this is what her kibble bowl looks like right now...I'm taking it as a sign that she's doing okay, despite our daily wrestling sessions when I push that capsule down her gullet.

I will report on what we learn at the vet's; I think it's time that veterinarian offices have a pub attached!

New Friends

You'd think I'd already made friends with every cat in my neighborhood.

Actually, there are new kitties to meet all of the time!

A New Yard Cat...

After my evening neighborhood walk, I strolled into the backyard to visit with Patty O'Malley and Sweetie.  I spied another cat in the backyard as I turned the corner of the house, and I whipped out my phone really fast in hopes of snapping some shots.  Ah...but just as fast, I realized it WAS NO CAT, but a SKUNK!  The photos are blurry, because I refused to move closer, and that little skunk was moving at a clip.  It ran off into my next door neighbor's garden; the last photo is of Patty watching it go.  Whew!
