"Gimme Coffee!"

My friend sent pics of her cat, Phat Gary.

Phat Gary was being irritating as she tried to work.

Phat Gary was in a state, until she figured out that he wanted some coffee.
Phat Gary's first taste.
Phat Gary is happy!
Phat Gary loves coffee!
PLEASE!

We know that COFFEE IS BAD NOT GOOD AT ALL for cats, so she only gave him a taste that was seriously watered down.

It was more the smell inside the cup that made him happy.

And he looks happy, no?

Am thankful for cat-loving friends who say, 'sure, put that in a blog post!'

New Friends

Folks, am just ticked pink to have found some new 'hood cat friends in windows!
And here I thought I'd seen every 'hood kitty there was, but NOPE!

I'll try to find names for these sweeties, should I ever come across their human servants.

Am thankful that cats are so beloved around us.

You've Got A Friend

 International Day of Friendship

The International Day of Friendship was proclaimed in 2011 by the UN General Assembly with the idea that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.

Mr. Puddy

We enjoy friendships with folks from all over the globe:
Israel
Switzerland
Australia
Ireland
Georgia
Portugal
England
Canada
Brazil
Finland
Germany
Poland
Netherlands
Scotland
Poland
Wales
Italy
and one specific friend in Thailand: Mr. Puddy

The Pudster isn't well, and is currently staying over at the veterinarian's office to monitor his lungs.

Many folks in the pet blogging community are friends with Pud and his meowmy, who is beyond worried about her sassy boy.

Any spare purrs and prayers sent to Mr. Puddy are gratefully appreciated.

Puddy's FB page is listed under the photo above, and blog is on the right side --->

Friendship has no boundaries, no social position, no requirements, other than delight in each other's company and words.
😽😽😽

P.S.
If I missed listing any friend's country, mea culpa.

Afterall, The United States is big enough for us to consider parts of it as 'beyond the pale', and most likely a different country from our own wee community in Michigan, and we are gobsmacked every time a European friend takes a holiday, and manages to visit two or three other countries during that time!

Here, we can drive for 8 hours and remain in the same state of the union.

However, we do have Canada to the south, east, and north of our location, so already we feel internationally inclined.

What Makes Us Smile

Today is Thanksgiving Day in America.

While the pandemic has changed our world, The Hubby and I are thankful for many things:

  • Manny and Chili Bruce are a joy, and Sweetie makes our hearts sing!
  • We've been married a long time, and no serious damage to either of us.
  • We have family members with whom we are in frequent contact via interwebs, phone, and mail.
  • I am gainfully employed, and working remotely, which suits us well.
  • We have library cards with which we indulge our every reading whim.
  • Friends, who've known us (and can tell the stories) from our youths, blogging and cat-loving friends, and brand new friends just met...we are grateful for every one!

And...

Bittersweetly, we have always been happy to have had Celestial Paddy O'Malley in our lives.

The sheer joy of his purrsonality, his beautiful eyes, that goofy roly poly body, and his love remains in our hearts.

😻Wishing all a wonderful day, and consider yourselves hugged by us!😻

Thankful Thursday: Prezzies!

My co-worker and friend gifted this kitty badge reel to me...a surprise!
Paula from Sweet Purrfections gave me this cat-covered top while we were in Chicago at the Meow MeetUp!
She has one too, so we are matchy matchy!

Everyone likes a surprise gift, and I am thankful for my friends who know what I like!

Thankful Thursday: Wand Toy

Tomorrow, I see my hand surgeon.  Most likely, my pins will come out.  Just typing that makes me squirm… however many people have told me it's no big deal, including the surgeon!

Adjusting to only using my right hand has been interesting. Doorknobs have been the worst! Eating a sandwich one-handed can be a challenge also.  Hooking one's brassiere, and pulling on or off clothes, is almost a comedy.

I am thankful for all of the assistance that I've received from The Hubby especially, and coworkers, and family members.  Everyone has bolstered my emotions, when I was frustrated, feeling blue, or when I tried to do too much!  Turns out, many folks have similar stories to mine, about their hand or fingers, a toe or ankle, knees, elbows, shoulders, etc.  Knowing that I am in such company, I feel slightly less squirmy…and I vow to face the un-pinning with good humor!

And, you know how to play with a wand cat toy?

Manny and I played 'catch the ribbon', while he luxuriated
in a commonly seen box!

I had a Neko Flies toy in my right hand, for Chili Bruce, and the tie-died fabric wand toy stuck into my splint and bandages for Manny!  It worked!

P.S.  I corrected my post from yesterday.  I came across Chuck's photo from a year ago, and he looked so handsome!  I miss him, and am joyful that we brought two Chuck look-alikes into our home; Da Boyz are a delight, even as they tear up the place.  Thank you for your kind comments.

Happy 20th Birthday, Spit Spot!

Doesn't look a day over 12!
The Birthday Mancat!
Spit Spot was a feral kitten, born from a feral mama along with his sister Tonya.  Some kind folks fed them, made houses for them, and slowly lured the kittens inside.  Tonya crossed the Rainbow Bridge years ago, but old man Spit Spot (named for the white patch of fur on his back foot) is enjoying life with three rowdy kittens and one tortie who plays the buffer between the youngsters and the old mancat.

The Old Man gets his own tree, while
Sassy (floor), Rusty, (middle) and
Mango (top) have a cat party
I've had the pleasure of meeting Spit Spot in the fur, many years ago, and although he and his cat and human families live far away, we are great long-distance friends.  I have learned so very much from these caring folk over time, and feel lucky to know them.

Happy Birthday, Spit Spot!

C.P.R. Class

Friday, I attended a C.P.R. (CardioPulmonary Resuscitation) class for dogs and cats, at A Rejoyceful Animal Rescue near me in Mount Clemens, Michigan.  Met my friend BG there, and she brought along her friend A, too.

Waiting my turn at practicing chest compressions,
while A tries it out.

Notes

Class Photo
Have wanted to take a CPR or pet First Aid class since forever...!  I learned that you've got to keep your cool, and make sure someone has called an animal emergency veterinarian, so they are ready when you arrive, and may be able to give you advice while you are giving CPR.

On that note, I realized that I have all of the cats' medical and veterinary information stowed where I can find it, but if there was an emergency, The Hubby or someone else would have no clue whom to contact!  So the first thing that I did today, was make a cheat-sheet of phone numbers, addresses and hours to hang on the refrigerator.  It lists the nearest emergency vet office, and Chuck's and Angel's vets.  The thought of something happening, and while I'm in a panic, or away at the office, looking through my phone contacts for vet information...just fills me with dread.

So, folks...make sure you have your veterinarian's information available to your household! Please consider attending a pet First Aid or CPR class, since I know you all LOVE your furry friends and would do anything to help them.  It's not that a class will make you a super-hero, but if some of the knowledge helps out one day, then it's A GOOD THING! 💕😸😸😸💕

Neighbor Cats

I found some friends while walking the neighborhood.  Okay, I know the one in the middle is a statue, but I liked it nonetheless.  The flirty tabby at the top was so lovey that he wouldn't hold still long enough for a really good face pic, but I simply love those mini-stripes!  Purrs galore too!  The ginger fellow on the porch was nervous, so I kept my distance to prevent him from running away...plus the front door was open and I did NOT want the human occupants to think I was being creepy, or a cat snatcher or something.

And as I type this, Chucky has discovered that I moved the area rug, and he's laid claim to it.  How do cats do that...find the exact center of things?  He looks pretty comfortable.

Have a terrific weekend, folks!  My friends are coming in for a holiday.  We so bad, we vacation in Detroit!  Hubby stays home, to guard the fort, feed all the kitties, and watch as many pre-season and college football games, baseball, tennis, and any other sporting things as he can stand without any 'interference' from me.  Hope he remembers to police the litter boxes now and again.  And Chucky is snoring...

Friendly Ferals

Sammy
Mini Mia

Patty O

In between snow and sleet storms, I managed to hang out with the 'o' cats this weekend.  I marvel at how friendly they have become; even Mama Mia who hates the camera.  She often rubs against my ankles, and has a lovely purr.  Sammy has been shy a lot this Winter; preferring to hang out inside a warm shelter. And yet he hung out with me long enough to pose.  Patty O is just a nut, as he often races around in the snow, playing with sticks and leaves, and pretending to chase the squirrels. He chirps at me when I get out of the car, and he will always put himself between me and the other cats.

When the feral cats first caught our attention, we couldn't get anywhere near them.  That's why building shelters out of scrap wood and Styrofoam coolers made sense.  Now, they are my very dear friends, and this wild Winter has caused me to reevaluate the set up.  I've been shopping online for insulated shelters, and there are some spectacular cedar cat homes that have everything I would wish for...for some really hefty price tags.  I will keep looking, and may even go DIY.  I don't mind going in and out; I just want my friends to have the very best I can provide.  We are pals!

P.S. Happy February!  Are we getting closer to Spring?  Hmm, the groundhog said NO.
