Howdy, Sheriff!

OOPS!  I hit the 'publish now' button instead of 'publish tomorrow!'

It's Walkin' and Readin' Wednesday!

As seen while on 'the hoof' in my neighborhood:

This licky kitty has a caretaker.
This kitty also has a caretaker.
Image nabbed from the Macomb County Sheriff's Department website

The other day, I was stopped by two different Sheriff's Department squad cars, as the officers were looking for anyone who could identify a youngster found running in the middle of the street nearby.

I did not recognize the photo, continued on my walk as I witnessed the squad cars driving all over the place, stopping other neighbors.

A few hours later, on our community Facebook feed, a report advised that the parents were located, and everyone is safe.

It's just not every day that I get to chat with two handsomes in uniform while strolling in the 'hood! 😻

Seriously, am simply glad all is well.

Three recently listened to audiobooks that I recommend, and I'm on a British mystery kick:

The Keeper, by Tana French
Book #3 in the Cal Hooper trilogy
Narrated by Roger Clark

"Retired detective Cal Hooper moves to a remote village in rural Ireland. His plans are to fix up the dilapidated cottage he's bought, to walk the mountains, to put his old police instincts to bed forever." - Goodreads

Love listening to the Irish narration, and the mysteries are intricate, the characters feel real, and I'll miss them now that the series is over.  Book #3 The Keeper starts with a young woman's body found in a stream, and Lena (Cal's fiancee) was the last person to see her alive.

How to Get Away with Murder, by Rebecca Philipson
Narrated by Michael Geary and Tamsin Kennard
Standalone Novel

"This fresh debut thriller finds a Scotland Yard detective trying to find the author of a self-help book that promises quite literally to teach readers how to get away with murder, which seems to have inspired London's newest murderer." - Goodreads

The Burial Place by Stig Abell
Book #3 in the ongoing Jake Jackson Series
Narrated by Oliver Hembrough

"For years, Jake Jackson has been a high-flying detective in London. But then one day he receives a letter from his reclusive uncle – he has left Jake his property in the middle of the countryside. For Jake, it is the perfect opportunity for a fresh start for a quiet life in Caelum Parvum." - Goodreads

Book #3 The Burial Place begins with the nearby archaeology dig finding bodies; fresh ones.

Henry Update:

The H Man doesn't like open windows, and he also doesn't like the window air-conditioner noise, nor the fans blowing either.  Poor baby.  Then the thunderbooms come along, and he's happy to live on the floor of the linen closet.  Smart cat!

No noticeable changes since we've added the new antibiotic, reduced the steroids from two pills a day to one-and-1/2 pills, and the doubling of his fiber powder.

❤️❤️❤️

Wild 'Hood

As seen while in the 'hood:
Sly, sleeping in the yard
Sneakers, airing out his floof
Ruby is a doll of a doggo, and is rarely still for a proper photo.
Um...a 'hood froggo?

Under The Car

Patty O'Malley likes to rest under The Cat Car.  It's a great place to 1) stay out of the sun...or rain..., 2) to watch the world go by, and 3) keep an eye out for Angel who sometimes hisses and charges!

When I show up, Patty ALWAYS walks toward me

Then, I spied a pretty ginger cat, who promptly ran under a nearby car.  You cannot see very well, but I didn't whip out my cell phone fast enough when the sweet kitty was in the middle of the green bushes.

"C'mon Orange Kitty!  Come out and play!"
And THEN!  This groundhog wanted to run across the street, but I scared him when I started peeking around, and he ran off to disappear under a hedge.

Neighborhood Cats

OOPS!  This is Anchor, and he's obviously
A DOG!  But, he and I greet each other
almost everyday...he barks, and I giggle.
I run back and forth, as he barks and runs along the fence with me.
I figure that he doesn't get any exercise; he never leaves that yard.

This is Shy Floofytail; her sister is Friendly Floofytail.
Long story short; they both spend a lot of time outside.
Since they look so much alike, I don't know which one
I am talking to, until either Friendly comes up to me with
a cute little meow, or Shy who stays at least five feet away.

This cat acted surprised that I stopped to say 'hello'!

This sweetie stayed far away from me in the garden,
but looked at me curiously as I snapped a photo and
made kissy noises.

My man Sly!
Sly runs up to me, and I dearly love petting that
long coat of his!  Isn't he gorgeous?

Sneakers, is Sly's brother.
Sneakers is shy, but I've earned his trust enough to have him
walk toward me and allow a head scritch sometimes.
This time, he posed for me on his perch, but would not come down.

Twixie
Lives a few doors down from Eastside Cats
This photo doesn't do justice to her beautiful coloring
nor to the fact that she is friendly as all get out!

Another nameless kitty, watching from an open window.

Wet and Rainy

The 'O' Cats's Frozen Waterbowl

Chucky's under there!
Visited with family on Thanksgiving Thursday, and stayed away from the crowds on Friday.  The photos below are from my neighborhood walk, when it was misty and chilly.  But the colors of everything seemed so alive!

As much as I prefer Spring, Summer and Autumn, there is no denying that cold and dreary can bring out beauty too!  And the tree dogs were barking and carrying on, and they made me laugh and laugh; such big woofies, trying to show me that they were toughguys.  They are too adorable!

More 'Hood Cats

See the little grey kitty?  He is very shy.
My guess is that he's a stray, but he's often
sitting on this person's front porch.
Trust me, I've got my eye on him!
This kitty came running up to me, and flopped onto
the sidewalk, so he could get more lovin'.
And then he followed me down the street!

"Oh, kitty...go back home!"

This sweet kitty has soft fur, and seemed
to enjoy having a fuss made over her.  She is owned.

Sly, my new boyfriend...

"Oops...No, Patty, you are still my main squeeze!"

Sly and Sneaker's human mom and I had a long talk the other day.  The next day, I was walking the 'hood again when it was already dark out.  I didn't see Sly outside so I stayed on the opposite side of the street.  Lo and behold, Sly meowed LOUDLY, and upon hearing my name being called, I swung around.  Sly came out from the bushes and flopped down for me to worship him.

And right then, his human mom drove up from grocery shopping, and she said, "It's you again!"  I told her that I'd been summoned, but now she probably thinks I'm some creepy neighborhood stalker or something!  But look, cats find ME...I'm not doing nuthin'!  Just keep my eyes open, and if I see a kitty, I make smoochy sounds and kneel down while offering a hand, and blink nice and slowly.  See...I am NOT a creepy cat stalker...nope.
