Thankful Thursday: Farewell Cat Car #1

How can I be thankful for saying farewell?

Because, if Cat Car #1 had not protected The Hubby...

He was stopped at a red light, when he was rear ended by a driver who did not brake.  The impact pushed Cat Car #1 into the car ahead, and that one into the car in front too.

Almost appears to be smiling...😿

Both driver's and passenger airbags deployed, even though The Hubby was the only inhabitant.

Not fixable!
The Hubby has a couple of bruises, and a swollen finger, but is otherwise alright.
He's mad and sad that our beloved car is wrecked.
I am thankful that only the car was damaged; the human contents are invaluable!

The funny thing about this (because, we have to laugh at something!), is that The Hubby had just finished our laundry at the laundromat, so three baskets of clean clothes were sent flying on impact!  Lucky for him, none of my ladies unmentionables were found hanging off the rearview mirror, to embarrass him when the police arrived!

Therefore, Farewell, old Cat Car, but thank you for doing your job!

Cat Car #2 has been on the job since October.
I so loved having matchy matchy cars!

  2. Oh noes! But as you say - you have to look on the bright side, other than a few bumps, hubster is okay. Cars can be replaced. People cannot! Hope you dont have too much hassle with insurance and such.

  3. I sure am glad that #1 Catcar did it's job and hubby wasn't hurt. Be careful what you settle for because those things (especially back pain) can come back to haunt you years later, our Dad knows. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

  4. Wow that's a scary situation--I'm glad he is ok and I hope he monitors to see if he has any pain or issues from the accident. Interesting photo of the airbags--I've never seen them deployed before (and hope I never do in person).

  7. It's good that hubby was okay. He's the most valuable thing in the car. I did laugh about your unmentionables not hanging off the rear-view mirror.

    Have a fabulous day. ♥

  11. Oh my word...Cat Car was in the middle. I'm so very sorry BUT thankful Cat Daddy is ok. He must be very sore. After the initial shock and thankfulness no you have to deal with the inconvenience of one car and all the insurance.

  13. Whgoa! That's scary. It happened to #1 once, being rear-ended when she was stopped. Fortunately, there was no one in front of her.

Anyway, we're glad the only damage was to the car!

  15. I am thankful too that your hubby didn't suffer any major injuries! The car that rear ended him must have been travelling at quite a speed and more than likely on the phone.
I hope the insurance is easy to sort although I imagine you would have plenty of witnesses being stopped at a red light when it happened.

    1. Okay, so, I haven't received any information from my Contact Form, and I've been testing it for awhile...and it's not working! DO'H! Blogger Help says that they are working on it; apparently, a whole bunch of bloggers have reported this issue about four months ago...I don't want either of us to give our email addys in a public way, so I don't know what to do at this point.

  16. Good Heavens, how frightening. It’s good to know that automobiles built these days will do what they should. It’s too bad a mechanic couldn’t just hammer out the dents, though, like the old days…

  17. Oh, I'm so glad he is okay. We went through a similar situation about a year ago. I was behind the wheel when a hit and run driver blew through a red light. Thankfully, I can say I suffered zero injuries and my husband's back pain was minor. Our beloved 2013 Volt got totaled, but friendly local cops found the other driver and drove us home. Be well!

  22. How very scary! We're so so glad The Hubby is OK. It is sad the Cat Car went over the Bridge, though. Maybe you'll be able to find and adopt a Cat Car 3#!

  24. wow.. Cat Car #1 did it's job and did it VERY well. Seeing it all smooshed is quite frightening and I am so glad to hear that all is well. Hopefully it didn't take too long to get your clean unmentionables home again! :)

  25. Thankfully, your husband was not injured. Sorry you had to go through all that though - an accident and the inconvenience of the insurance and having to choose a replacement vehicle.

  26. I am VERY grateful that your husband came out of that without severe injury and I am sorry he had to go through that. Mom lost her Camaro Z-28 by someone plowing thru a red light and T boned us. The worst to me was whip lash which taught me never ever to laugh at whiplash jokes again. Zack, my Z-28, looked good except his lights and grill were crooked but he was totaled as it turned out. I was sad when the truck came to the house to take him away. I loved that car! And yep, we are punished even more with all we have to go thru to get another car + $$$$$$$$.

  28. The same thing happened to my human's first Mini - they were rear ended and pushed into the car in front of them. Then, while the car sat in the middle of the street while they were talking to the other drivers on the sidewalk, another car came and hit it! The car was totaled, but both humans walked away without any injuries at all. My human was totally sold on Minis after that. She is currently on her second one, and when she goes for a new car in a year or two, she will get another one.

  30. Whoa! That was a closecall. You almost had undies on the rear view mirror. Prolly someone texting while driving.
