A Decade Ago in The 'Hood

A curious reminder appeared on my calendar.

6 August, 2013: Twin black cats were left behind when renters moved out of a house on Smith Street.

They were adorable, very chill, friendly, and my heart was broken that they were homeless.
The neighbors from all around gathered, and every one pulled out their phones to call folks in the hopes of finding these boys a home.

And it worked!

If I remember correctly, the supervisor of the dude next door wanted them immediately.

Perhaps shades of five years later, when Manny and Chili Bruce came to live with us...?

Now you know why I enjoy my 'hood walks; one never knows what will happen, and the folks who live here are good folks.

Except for those renters, but we'll never know that story.

  1. A happy ending all round. We think in terms of good karma these days, and sounds like your neighbourhood is very special in deed.

  2. It's good to know that there are good people out there. And this is a particularly good story, given that next week is Black Cat Appreciation Day.

  6. My husband jokes that whenever I go gardening he worries I'll bring home another cat. lol But he would never turn one away. :) Like you, we have good neighbors for the most part. Be well, my dear!

  7. That's quite the story. I'm sure that Karma moved in with the renters somewhere.

  8. We get calls about abandoned cats all the time in our rescue-group, and one relatively recent black cat...but then you know about Imogen...
