9 August is Book Lovers Day!
📚📖📚
Observed to encourage bibliophiles (a person who collects or has a great love of books).
Some can debate on whether listening to audiobooks 'counts' as reading, yet I listen to narrated books for hours EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
I listen while:
Driving in the car (bluetooth to car speakers)
Taking a bath
Watching something on television that The Hubby chose (dullsville!)
Tending cat litter boxes
Trying to solve sudoku puzzles
Playing online jigsaw puzzles
Being a human cat bed
~AND~
*whispers*
Slogging away on office spreadsheets
Remember!
You do NOT HAVE TO SPEND ANY MONEY to read a book!
Simply visit your local library, either in person or online.
There are books of all stripes available, in traditional form, as ebooks, as audiobooks, or as graphic novels.
There are apps to load to phones, or other reading devices.
📚📖📚
It's the library for mum, saves lots of green papers that she can spend on me! But she is a real book person, she tunes out on audio books! Just like the radio. It becomes background noise.
ReplyDeleteHave heard that from many folks, while others say they get so wrapped up on the narration that they forget what they are doing...like driving (my Dad did this!)
DeleteI love the library, always have. :)
ReplyDeleteVisiting other libraries is fun too; I always find a good or two that I'd overlooked or hadn't noticed in my usual library. This may explain why my TBR list is over 700 books right now...*sigh*
DeleteI know I am the last person in the world who always just reads. Even if it's an ebook. Sometimes I like to stop and concentrate on a turn of phrase..a thought..and idea...can't do it being read to.
ReplyDeleteI read, I listen...it's all great stuff!
DeleteThe library is a great invention.
ReplyDeleteYessss....
DeleteHappy Reading Day...every day!
ReplyDeleteYessss...
DeleteI love listening to audiobooks!
ReplyDeleteAm listening to a mystery that takes place in Ireland, and I adore the Irish lilt of the narrator!
DeleteI like the Calvin and Hobbs comic strip. That's the appeal of books right there.
ReplyDeleteCalvin and Hobbs...what a pair! They are timeless cartoons.
DeleteReading Day is every day for us! I really don't know what I would do without books. I have always, always loved them. :)
ReplyDeleteIf I purchased every book, ebook, and audiobook that I wanted, I'd have to be as rich as Bloomberg! Lucky that we have a library down the street.
DeleteI remember listening to "Angela's Ashes" back in the nineties while shredding documents. lol I rented the CD set and played them over a boombox. Nobody minded as I used this wintertime at a lawn care service doing something productive.
