What A Bite

 On May 26, 1897, Bram Stoker's Dracula was published.

The gothic horror story is legendary, and you've got to believe that I've collected a few sillies for your viewing pleasure:

Just wait, as I've collected memes and cartoons for more monsters:

Godzilla
Dragons
Bigfoot
Space Aliens
and more!

~~~
Henry Update:
He looks innocent, but Henry bit me.
I was absentmindedly petting him while looking at my phone, and *CHOMP*!
My left thumbnail is purple, turning black, and there's a hole near the tip of the pad.
This occurred days ago, and I've taken all precautions against developing an infection from a puncture wound made by cat teeth.
As I push pills into his maw with my right thumb, we are all doing just fine.
A lesson in staying focused.
Let's Go Batty!
April 17 is International Bat Appreciation Day!
Bats are vital to our world’s ecosystems and economy, but nearly 200 species are threatened with extinction.
A few amusing cartoons found on social media for you:
🦇 ❤️ 🦇
Thank you for the good wishes for my mother, and of course for Henry too!
Henry Update:
The vet's office decided he needed anti-nausea meds: Cerenia.
Turns out, the doxycycline antibiotic can be rough on a kitty's stomach.
A 1/4 of a tab every 24 hours, and I gave him some the minute I was back from the vet's.
Also made a nice slurry of churu goop and canned food, and syringe-fed Henry at dinner time.
Backwards
Daylight Saving Time Ends @ 2 am on 11/2 here in Michigan.
We gain back the hour that was ripped away from us on 3/9.
A few chuckles to honor this rather stupid ritual:
Book It
September 6 is National Read A Book Day!
Go ahead, read a book today!
You can say you have to, since it's a holiday.
Highly recommend a cup of tea, and a cat in the lap while reading.
Before you do, however, here's an artified image of Chili Bruce for Caturday.
Flying Flippantly
Recognized on the last day of the annual Christmas Bird Count, National Bird Day is widely celebrated to raise awareness of the treatment of birds in captivity and promote the conservation of wild birds.
I love birds; love to watch them as they flit about in the trees, but am crap at identification despite the four bird books within easy reach.
Am very aware that outside cats will try to snatch birds for a meal, yet we only witnessed one bird killed by our outside cats...and that was by Celestial Paddy O'Malley.
Sweetie was an excellent mouser, by the way.
In honor of birds, here are a few joking cartoons and meme re: birds and cats.
 Have already warned Trout Talkin Tabbies about today's post, as they really don't like 'burds'.
Blink, and it's Monday
For kicks and giggles...
However fast the weekend seems to fly by, I am beyond grateful to be gainfully employed, have a sturdy roof over our heads, some spending money, and a life partner who continues to make me laugh after 30 years of marriage.
❤️BOOKS❤️
 9 August is Book Lovers Day!
📚📖📚
Observed to encourage bibliophiles (a person who collects or has a great love of books).
Some can debate on whether listening to audiobooks 'counts' as reading, yet I listen to narrated books for hours EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
I listen while:
 Driving in the car (bluetooth to car speakers)
Taking a bath
Watching something on television that The Hubby chose (dullsville!)
Tending cat litter boxes
Trying to solve sudoku puzzles
Playing online jigsaw puzzles
Being a human cat bed
~AND~
*whispers*
Slogging away on office spreadsheets
Remember!
You do NOT HAVE TO SPEND ANY MONEY to read a book!
Simply visit your local library, either in person or online.
There are books of all stripes available, in traditional form, as ebooks, as audiobooks, or as graphic novels.
There are apps to load to phones, or other reading devices.
International Box Day
19 June is International Box Day!
A day late, but...
International Box Day highlights the environmental benefits of cardboard boxes: cardboard is a recyclable and biodegradable material, making it an eco-friendly alternative to plastic packaging.
By celebrating boxes, we encourage sustainable practices and promote the reuse and recycling of these versatile containers.
And most cats LURV boxes!
