Saving?

Eastern Standard Time changed to Eastern Daylight Time at 2 am, Sunday 10 March.

OH NOES!!!!
Disclaimer:
No cat was harmed in the making of this time change.

In fact, they were delighted to get their breakfast EARLY.

The humans, however, are mumbling under their breaths about lack of sleep.

Bananacatastrophe

No photos exist of the disaster that occured this morning.  The Hubby reports that Manny reached up and hooked his claws on the cutting board that held a nicely chopped banana.  The banana was due to grace MY breakfast, but instead, it hit the floor.  Oh noes!

Manny being weird
Fortunately, the crisis was erased by the surfeit of organic bananas on hand.  Oatmeal with bananas, cinnamon, and a tablespoon of peanut butter was served on schedule, and I wasn't told about the bananacatastrophe until later.

No animals were harmed in the making of today's post, and The Hubby was only upset by the banana loss for a few minutes, because Manny is too cute, and now all is forgiven.

Stay Away Wednesday

Image taken at 7:00 am this morning:

Angel:  "Don't get any closer to me, Mama!
Not until I've had my brekkie!"
Angel allows little to no touching before meals.  She's all business...the business of filling her belly!

Why empty one bowl first?

Yesterday's breakfast, Angel's bowl is up top
Angel and Chuck finish off one food bowl before the second bowl.  The first-empty bowl is Angel's, and it's the one that I mix in her special holistic vitamins.  Chuck starts on his bowl, then walks off as Angel keeps eating from hers.  After awhile, the two cats alternate eating...one at a time...until that first bowl is clean.

Slowly, the second bowl is consumed afterward.

Why do they do that?

Are the vitamins such a tasty add-on, that it makes Angel's bowl more enticing?  Let's experiment!

This morning, I added vitamins to both bowls...and voila!  Chuck ate at his bowl, and Angel at hers. By the time I left for work, both bowls had a few mouthfuls left, but they were mostly equally eaten.

I really thought that I was being so SNEAKY when I mixed in the vitamin powder, but obviously I was about as subtle as a freight train.  I have already gotten the okay from Dr. Sheppard for Chuck to ingest Angel's vitamins; I am sure I'll get a fist-full of Chuck's own vitamins when we go in early April.

Today's breaky...sounds like "nom nom nom!"

And now it's 32 degrees...grrr!

Yesterday, Chucky greeted me with meows when I came home from visiting family.  The weekend was lovely; nice temperatures, and a chance to leave one's coat in the closet.

Today, however...whole 'nuther story.  Metro Detroit had snowfall, and now it's official: coldest winter on record AND the snowiest!  They should hand out medals to those of us who stayed in town from November to April!  My biggest concern all of this time has been my friendly ferals.  The top photo is the drop trap, taken this morning.  The trap is still snow covered this evening.  Sammy would not come out of his shelter for breakfast today; he too has had enough!  Looks like this cold will start easing away again tomorrow, then I'll get right back on my Trap Sammy Project.

Where's my breakfast?

As you can see, the 'o' cats are very social.  This video is a classic example of how I am greeted each morning as I carry breakfast bowls.  Patty O' is ALWAYS first, but then he stops dead in his tracks, and I've just about stepped on him!  Sammy brings up the rear, but now that the temps are warmer, he's much more active.  And Mia is in between; she runs halfway out to see me, then darts back.

My friendly ferals!  I love 'em to pieces, and have breathed a very small sigh of relief that Old Man Winter may be on his way out.  Ha...I'll believe it when I see it!

Fall Back

Feed Me!
Am I the only person who dislikes this day?  Sure, supposedly everyone gets an extra hour when the clocks are changed from Daylight Savings Time.  But not for someone who feeds cats!  Cat LOVE a regular schedule, and mine want their breakfast and dinner at exactly the same time...every single day.  Day in and day out; same time.  Not today!  They think breakfast should be served one hour EARLIER than the clocks, and dinner too.  Who can deny them?  AND...I have two cat families to feed.  I could hear five little cat stomachs rumble with hunger pains for every minute I tried to wait, to get them aligned with my 'new' schedule.  Why do we still have the old Daylight Savings anyhow?  Isn't it antiquated?  Didn't it have something to do with farmers and their kids?  Why does the whole country have to change for some old idea?  I'm sure that if the First Family actually fed their own pets, then the old time switcheroo would be history in a New York minute.  I'll bet not a single Washington politician takes care of their own house animals, otherwise they'd be pushing through repeals or amendments or whatever they needed to fix this thing too.  That's what those crazy politicians need: more cat lovers!  THEN maybe they would get something done.
