Put Some Ink on It

"National Tattoo Day is celebrated on July 17th each year to honor the history, culture, and artistry of tattooing.

It's a day for tattoo enthusiasts to celebrate their ink, share their stories, and perhaps even get new tattoos to commemorate the occasion.

While not an official holiday, it's a widely recognized day for appreciating the personal and cultural significance of tattoos."

In honor of the day, pics of my most recent ink:

This is on my right arm, and it's really hard to get an image of, so here is the template that Brandon used.
My Wishnick Troll Doll, played with as a kid.
The lace dress was made by my sister, and Brandon inked her so very well!

My goal is to have both arms completely covered in tattoos; these are called sleeves.

I have a few open areas waiting for images, then we'll fill the gaps with swirls, stars, color, and mini-tats.

Current tat count: 15

Did You Know?
According to Smithsonian Science News, the first known tattoo belongs to Ötzi who was “the European Tyrolean Iceman who died and was buried beneath an Alpine glacier along the Austrian–Italian border around 3250 B.C.”

Ötzi had 61 tattoos on his body including his wrist, lower legs, lower back and torso.

Thank you all for your well-wishes on my recovery from the delayed flight out of New York.

What an experience!

Bring The Luck

September 29 is Maneki Neko Day in Japan.

The beckoning cat figurine or statue is considered to be a talisman of good luck.

The date itself is a clever wordplay – "9" (ku) and "2" (fu) can be read as "kuru fuku," meaning "come, good fortune."

While visiting the Feline Historical Museum in Alliance, Ohio in 2019, there was a display of unique and beautiful Maneki Neko.

Big or small, we all could use a Maneki Neko or two around...in a location, of course, where our cats cannot get their paws on them.

Beckoning Cat

Today, 29 September, Japan celebrates Maneki-Neko (Beckoning Cat) Day.

Maneki Neko brings happiness, good luck, and wealth to homes, businesses, and their customers.
Have collected these images because I like the space alien vibe!

Maneki Neko Day

Today, the 29th of September, Japan celebrates Maneki Neko (Beckoning Cat) Day.

Maneki Neko brings happiness, good luck, and wealth to homes, businesses, and their customers.

Why was the 29th of September chosen as Maneki Neko Day?

In Japanese, the number 9 is pronounced as KU and that sounds like this verb ‘kuru’ 来る meant COME.

Then, the number 2 is pronounced FU and as l mentioned before the number 9 is KU so we can make the word FUKU福with the number 29. That means GOOD LUCK.

The pronunciation of 9.29 can be written KURUFUKU来る福as ‘Good luck is coming’ and that is related to Maneki Neko.

We are thankful to have two Maneko Nekos at Eastside Cats.
The cutie on the red stand, with a Lucky Cat book tucked inside, was a gift from my neice.
The larger one was brought from Japan by my boss.

There is the Lucky Cat Museum in Cincinnati, Ohio, which I would love to visit someday.

And for fun, here is a jigsaw puzzle for you!

A Step Into The Future

I began my new job this week.

This Maneki-Neko sits on my desk; it has brought me luck!
A gift from Boss #1 from Japan.

The story:

Boss #1: Hired me in 2011 as executive administrative assistant, then he took another position in the company.

Boss #2: Great boss; he also took another position with another division.

Boss #3: During pandemic, my job title was eliminated, however Boss #4 offered me a position on the sales team.  I took it.

Boss #2, as a Corporate Global President now: "I need you, will you come work for me again?"

To Boss #4: "I must go!"

Being back in the swing of the executive team is delightful, and I've just begun to dip my toe into those waters.

I may drive to the office once a week for awhile, and The Eastside Cats will NOT have me for their human cat bed every single day.

But, keeping them in cat food is most impawtant, no?

Surprise Prizes and Prezzies!

Eastside Cats has won a few prizes recently, and I am grateful for being chosen.  My apologies for taking too long to say THANK YOU!

Cat Chat With Caren And Cody sent me "The Eye of Nefertiti", by Maria Luisa Lang.  I promise a book review posting once I've read it; I love cats AND Egyptian history, so I am looking forward to it.  It all started years ago when King Tutankhamun's Treasures were displayed in Chicago, and I've remained an avid reader of anything about ancient Egypt.  They worshipped cats, you know!

I won a velvet safety Coolcatcollar from The Island Cats, and asked for a luscious Rosewater Pink one for Angel. Then, I won a second collar from Cat Wisdom 101!  What are the odds of that?!?  The Hubby demanded Blueberry Blue one for Chucky to wear. Go to Coolcatcollars to see all of their great stuff.

The cat statue is waiving in good luck and fortune!

And I am adding this adorable maneki-neko, delivered all of the way from Japan.  My former boss was on business travels, and when he saw it, he thought of me!  I feel humbled by this; one always wants to do a good job, and to be remembered a year after he left for his new position, is really very sweet.

Thank you all!
