Wild Child

Yesterday was National Feral Cat Day, shining a spotlight on the needs of community cats and their carers.

But what about humans are a little bit...er, um...wild?

The Hubby agrees that I am untamed!

Below is my first feral/stray/community cat, found in the parking lot at my workplace.

Named George after the security guard who informed me about the cat's presence around the building.

Friends and co-workers put out food for George on the weekends and when I was away, and we humanely trapped him after many months of trying...hey, we were novices!

Donations covered the vet bill for neutering and shots, then George was delivered to his foster home, where he became a member of the family.

Will always be thankful for P&M, my co-workers who pitched in, for the family who adopted him, and for that security guard who put my feet on an outside-cat-loving path!

Maybe the feral in me calls to the feral in them?

TNR the SFC*!

Alley Cat Allies created National Feral Cat Day in 2001 as a call to action to raise awareness about community cats (also called feral or stray cats), promote Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), and empower the millions of compassionate people around the United States who care about cats and kittens to drive change on their behalf.

Empty Yard

While we are pleased to have no new stray/homeless cats in our yard, that doesn't mean I'm not out there looking for them:
Am thankful for our time as community cat carers, and will spring to action should any cat choose to hang about.

Just Tip It

National Feral Cat Day® is 16 October

Alley Cat Allies created National Feral Cat Day in 2001 as a call to action to raise awareness about community cats (also called feral or stray cats), promote Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), and empower the millions of compassionate people around the United States who care about cats and kittens to drive change on their behalf.

We cannot adopt our way out of the cat overpopulation; sterilizing community cats is the only choice we have to save their lives.

Veterinary and scientific professionals are at work to find a non-surgical procedure to sterilize cats: read about it here.

Huge thanks to the low-cost spay/neuter clinics, local rescue and foster groups; the public who've attended TNR classes and care for their own clowders; the relentless advocacy of national groups like Alley Cat Allies and Best Friends, plus the countless TNR groups in every city, and every state.

We love our cats, so why not love ALL cats?

2/28/23 World Spay Day

Celebrated on the last Tuesday in February, World Spay Day shines a light on the need to spay or neuter companion and stray cats and dogs.

We cannot adopt our way out of the animal overpopulation.
We know we are preaching to the choir here, however we can each do our part:

-Chat up neighbors and friends, convince them to get their pets neutered.
-Support your local low-cost spay/neuter clinics.
-Become a foster for your favorite animal shelter or rescue.

Thank you!
