The Hubby has been moving boxes and stuffs around the house; cleaning, tossing away, and straightening. He's stacked up items here and there, while he decides on the final rearrangement.
For a few days, the house seemed kinda cold, but hey, it's Autumn, the temps are dropping, we just aren't used to it, etc. Then, one day, The Hubby realized that it's TOO COLD, and dammit, he's convinced that our furnace was dead. He checked here, he checked there, and he began to realize that spending some serious $$$ was in our future, to replace that furnace.
By chance, he looked at the thermostat. He set the temp higher, then lower. Got nothing.
He looked at it again, and even brought out a flashlight. AHA!!!! It was turned OFF. And why was it turned off?!? Because he'd stacked enough stuffs nearby, that some kitty (or two) managed to get their paws up to the control switches and turned off the thermostat, thereby making the furnace go cold.
We are now roasty, toasty, and zero $$$ had to leave our pockets. Only one or two piles were quickly removed from the thermostat area, and maybe some sort of cage should be designed to protect it!
Today, we are thankful that our furnace is working, the thermostat
is working, and that The Hubby learned a lesson in interior decorating.

Well that kitty must have been too warm but thank goodness for flashlights! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteGood job, kitties! Our mom would love to turn our heat off. We don't control it and it's always HOT in our apartment!
ReplyDeleteOMC...money on a new furnace costs and you don't need to be throwing your money away when the money can go for the necessities like treats, new cat toys and such. Thank heavens it was only turned off.

Well, we did have to replace our furnace...last Spring.
ReplyDeleteAs Summer was on the way, mum decided to do it then.
Now that it is cooler we enjoy the warm air :)
Mum is thankful the thermostat is in a place we cannot get to :)
Glad hubby's lesson was a free one. MOL!!

Wow, those mancats are demanding guys. Definitely big believers in taking matters into their own talented paws. PS: mom says ALWAYS check the little stuff first. Amazing how often that's the problem. Especially when the furry folks get involved.
ReplyDeleteGlad you solved that mystery :)
ReplyDeleteUs cats can do loads of things when we set our minds on it!

Yep, humans would be amazed at some of the mischief we felines can get into around the house!
ReplyDeleteWhen Bear was younger, there were times I just couldn't keep up - and other times that I just wanted to cry. How quickly those times are over and how much you miss them :)
ReplyDeleteNice Halloween trick you played guys! MOL!
ReplyDeleteOH me I'm cackling just a wee bit at the thermostat story.
ReplyDeleteYou told it so well too.
Yep Frisco has never met a stranger. I asked a friend who has always owned Gingers if they were all big....she said I think the correct answer is they are all kinda lazy. That he is.

LOL LOL what naughty boys :-) This photo of them is so cute. They are curious and adventurous! Glad everything is working fine!
ReplyDeleteNot having to spend money on the furnace is a good thing. Those are expensive things to fix. You two are adorable.
ReplyDeleteHave a purrfect day and weekend. My best to your peeps. ♥
That was close. It would have been both costly and embarrassing to have a furnace repairman tell you what the problem had been. But the question remains, did the cats turn off the furnace deliberately?
ReplyDeletewe agree with John - glad you found it or that repair person would have had QUITE the story :)
ReplyDeleteYou two boys LOOK naughty! ALL the time!!
