Farewells

Celestial Magnus lived at Black Cat Pottery, and I've enjoyed his company for years.

Magnus left for The Rainbow Bridge last week.
Mangus
I met Gus while in Illinois in July, 2019.

His mom brought him along as we visited Meow Meetup Chicago.

Celestial Gus left us last week too.

Farewell, my friends.

Hugs and purrs to your humans, who now have to live here on Earth without you.

Dear Friends

Am I lucky to have friends who loan me their cats...er, um, well...pictures of their cats?

YES!

Am thankful for each one, so here is a list from yesterday's "Kiss A Ginger" post, with a short history of my dear friends:

Eric, who owns ET in British Columbia, Canada.
Eric's brofur, Angel Sparky, left us not long ago; they were a matched set!
I met ET on FB as we are cat people who love art, and the silliest memes available.
We have plans to travel around the world together, when the world stops wanting to kill us.
Mango, Rusty, Skittles, and Sassy boss around P&M in Florida.
I met P&M when a stray cat was found in the office parking lot, and they volunteered to care for him on the weekends.
With their guidance and help, we trapped George, vetted him, and he lived out his life with a wonderful family.
P&M and I forged an unbreakable bond.

Rufus, one of six cats who are muses to an artist, and is the only cat on this post whom I've met (and petted, thankyouverymuch!)
CE is smart, talented, and is unafraid to show it.
Not only do I enjoy her company, her art, and her cats, but as a Master Gardener, she is helping me to transform Eastside Cats' yard into a Native Plant oasis for birds, bees, bugs, bats, and butterflies!
Click on the photo of Rufus above to visit her Black Cat Pottery website.  CE lives about 30 minutes away from us, in Detroit, Michigan.

Eddie, the love of RB's life, in Manchester, U.K.
Every day, Eddie discovers a new place to climb, a lap to snuggle in, or a TV program to enjoy with her human.
I met RB via ET (Eric's human above), and although in severely different time zones, we talk cat, sports, films, and Monty Python skits.

Garden and Cat Tour

Last Saturday, I had the supreme pleasure of visiting a favorite garden of mine at the 11th Annual Summer Garden Tour at Black Cat Pottery!

Image from Facebook

I own a few pieces of her art:
Black glazed paw printed Itty Bitty Box
Platter, with lovely greens, blues, and sand colors
Black Cat Pottery items make great gifts, as my family and friends can attest.

I was very, very privileged to be able to meet her cat staff after I walked the gardens...
...and there were two more cats out of camera range as they napped under the bed.

Very thankful to be allowed into the cat domain, as well as spending time with interesting artists, gardeners, and other cat lovers.

Disclosure: I received no compensation for this post.
Cheryl at Black Cat Pottery is a dear friend, and I purchased the above items for my own use.
I will only post items that I feel would be of interest to you, my readers.

This is an image of Sweetie, from Wednesday's "Sweetie's Den" post.

Using my trusty Prisma app, I tried all kinds of filters, then this one jumped out at me!

Crazy, huh?

I like the bubble effect, and the colors...wow!

💔😿💔😿💔
We whisper "Good-bye, I love you!" and we hope and pray that they understand.

Their bodies are small compared to ours, but they fill the house, and our hearts.

Farewell Angels Josie and Ramses.

Now that you are free of your physical limitations, we weep for you because you've left us, but we rejoice that your souls are no longer constrained, and that we knew and loved you, either in the fur, or via the magic of the interwebs.

September 1: Ginger Cat Appreciation Day!

Right now, Eastside Cats has no ginger cats in residence.

Hopefully, one (or two...) will choose us someday!

However, in honor of this special day, dear friends have loaned us images of their beloved orange cats, and I have a bevy to show you!

First up: Eric and Angel Sparky (who left us in January), who live with ET in British Columbia, Canada:

The next video is Rufus, who lives in Detroit, Michigan with his cat mom CE, and the rest of his clowder:

This gorgeous threesome live in Florida, with P&M:

And, no Ginger Cat Day celebration would be complete without...

Thankful Thursday

I am thankful for my good fortune to have traveled several times to do wonderful cat things in 2019!

In March, I visited Loganberry Books in Cleveland, Ohio:

This is Otis, who lives at Loganberry Books!

On that same trip, we visited the Cat Fanciers Association Feline Historical Museum in Alliance, Ohio:

Outdoor cat shelter designed by the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright

I also attended the 2019 CatVideo Fest at the Detroit Film Theater:

The shirt I wore to the CatVideo Fest!

I had the delightful experience of meeting Beatrice Friedlander and her husband Donald, who run Attorneys For Animals at the All About Animals Rescue Gala in April:

Advocates for Michigan's animals!

May caught me traveling in Colorado, and had the great pleasure of meeting Glogirly, Waffles and Katie:

Waffles carefully investigated my bag; Glogirly made sure he didn't climb in and leave with me!

The Meow Meetup in Chicago occured in July, and it was SO MUCH FUN!
Here's only one link to the multiple ones that I posted:
I've even taken a class on how to read Tarot Cards now

Visiting Black Cat Pottery is always a treat, this time in August:
This is Pandora, Dora for short
Or should we just say, ADORABLE?!?

Another film festival, The New York Cat Film Festival, arrived in September:

Seen at the Royal Oak Main Art Theater
A November visit to the Toledo Zoo and Aquarium in Toledo, Ohio was fantastic:

And in December, I visited my other boyfriend...Magoo!

Such grace and style; Magoo had eye only for me

Thank you for joining me on my journey back through 2019!
Where will I go in 2020?

Garden Open House at Black Cat Pottery

"Native plants provide shelter and food for wildlife and support pollinators. Native plants attract a variety of birds, butterflies, and other wildlife by providing diverse habitats and food sources. ... Native plants promote biodiversity and stewardship of our natural heritage." East Multnomah Soil & Water
Conservation District
 🌱 🐦 ☀️ 🐝 🌳

Last weekend, I had the pleasure to visit Black Cat Pottery's 9th Annual Summer Garden Tour, in Detroit.  Alas, there are no kitties in the garden, yet such beautiful plants!  Cheryl English, the owner and artist of Black Cat Pottery, is devoted to native Michigan planting in her yard.  To attract native bees and insects, birds, and furry friends too, she maintains a variety of flowers, shrubs, and trees, and encourages all to do the same.  Here are a few images:

Field Pussytoes (Antennaria neglecta), no blooms
Orange Coneflower (Rudbeckia fulgida)
Garden artwork
Bird Bath
Sevenbark (Hydrangea arborescens), not yet blooming
White Flat-topped Aster (Doellingeria umbellata), just beginning to bloom
More garden art
Madame Julia Correvon (Clematis viticella)
Tree Peony pods (Paeonia x suffruticosa 'Kamata-nishiki')
And just to verify that Black Cat Pottery IS based on feline companionship, here are a couple of Cheryl's furry muses:

Shy but gorgeous Rufus
Friendly and petit Pandora
