Pet Photo Fails with Sweetie and Friendly Fill-Ins

Oops!

Sweetie got up close and pursonal!
Even though this is a photo fail, I still like
how her eyes looks, and that fang thang...

And, this week's Friendly Fill-Ins!

1. The best teacher I ever had was working in the corporate world.  Boy, you get 'schooled' in so many ways; both good and bad.  And, my cats have taught me some very precious things; how to love unconditionally, how to make one's needs known, how to be gentle, and how to say goodbye.

2. The worst teacher I ever had was our music teacher in elementary school.  She yelled at me in class, when we all had tambourines, sticks, and bells to play, and I got so excited that I laughed, and she embarrassed me enough that I didn't want to make music anymore.

3. I recently learned how to PILL A CAT!  I dropped a pill down Paddy O'Malley's gullet yesterday, held his mouth closed until he swallowed, and I feel darn proud of myself.  Today, the sores caused by his constant scratching appear to be healing already.

4. I think everyone should know how to work at a fast food restaurant.  You learn to wait on customers, clean bathrooms, make change, follow directions, work efficiently, wipe tables, sweep parking lots, and so many little things that carry over into real life!  I worked at an Arby's Roast Beef while in high-school and college, and I learned how to pay my own bills too.  Downside: smelling like meat, and wearing that ugly uniform, but I rocked the kerchief tying back my hair! 😁

Thankful Thursday: Wildflowers by Quint Cole

Gorgeous!
Imagine my excitement when the mail arrived...with this!  I LURV Quint's paintings; this is my fourth one...well, I gave #3 to my mother, whom adores it.

Look at the color!  Look at the wonderful use of Quint's paws!  He is a very talented kitty.

Get yourself one of Quint's originals, at Colehaus Cats.  So thankful that Quint is encouraged to express himself, and that we all can own a bit of his creativity!

Disclaimer: This product was purchased by me, for me, and I am posting about it because Quint's abilities need to be shouted about from the rooftops, imho.

Gotcha Day 14!

Angel, and some artwork from my Prisma app
I think it looks like a painting!
Fourteen years ago, Angel and her brofur Chuck were loaded into a cardboard box.  The Hubby drove, while I sat in the backseat with the box on my lap.  We humans were giddy with delight!

The Hubby was emotional enough to take a wrong turn, which made our drive home a bit longer, but we four made it, and our lives changed forever!  Although the loss of Chuck in November has been a bitter pill to swallow, our love for Angel continues to grow and blossom.  She is in good spirits, good health, and is convinced that the Sheer Fun toy is evil and she runs away from it!  However, she enjoys the felt toy that came with it, so go figure.

πŸ’•πŸ’–πŸ’•

Happy 14th Gotcha Day, Angel!

We love you so!

πŸ’–πŸ’•πŸ’–
Disclaimer: The Sheer Fun toy was purchased by me, for my cats, and we received no compensation from the company.  Da Boyz enjoy the heck out of the thing, but Angel hasn't quite figured it out yet!

Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day - August 28

πŸ’”πŸ˜ΏπŸ’”πŸ˜ΏπŸ’”
From Deborah Barnes: "I founded Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day in 2015 as a special day for pet guardians to honor the memory of those beloved pets in their life they have loved and lost, but never forgotten – whether fur, fin, feathers, scales or something else. It’s held every year on August 28, in honor of the day I had to say goodbye to my precious Ragdoll cat, Mr. Jazz."

Remembering those who've left us....

Chucky

Although Manny and Chili Bruce look like you, Chuck...
they aren't you and we miss you.

Sammy
Had a meow that sounded like, "Arf!"

Hobo
Never allowed me to pet him, but he spent a lot of time in the yard with me.

George
He found a furrever home, and was loved and cosseted until he passed.

Boys Toys

Disclaimer:
All cat toys shown today were purchased by ME; no gifts or exchanges given!

Manny enjoys the Sheer Fun toy that we purchased recently
Go here to buy!
This toy is like a piece of tissue paper; semi-transparent,
and has a crinkly noise too.
Notice how SHORT the fabric strip is?!?
Am fairly sure this is the work of Manny, and luckily,
he coughed up the 4"-5" piece that was swallowed.
Guess this Cat Dancer Cat Charmer (like the Neko Flies wand toy)
will be drawered after play daily now.
Chili Bruce tries to eat through the Neko Fly string...

But Wait...There's More!

Yesterday's post: Thankful Thursday: It Was Only A Dream! continues!

I am an astronaut, preparing to go into space.  I walk through the laboratory in my space suit, covered in a thick uniform, with huge boots and an even bigger helmet.  While scaling a set of stairs, my fat boot catches in the slats of the stair rail, and I am forced to climb on the outside of the stairs in an attempt to free myself!

When the scientists on the laboratory floor see me hanging from the stairs, they hit the alarms and STOP THE COUNTDOWN!  All I want is for someone to help me untangle my foot, but the powers that be decide to scrub the mission entirely.

Now I am a very upset and frustrated...and grounded...astronaut, and once divested of my moon-suit, I leave to stop at my favorite thrift shop for some shopping comfort.  Inside the shop are tiny glass cat figurines, no more than an inch in height, but they sparkle in the sunshine.  Blue glass, green glass, smokey grey glass!  I also find a pair of earrings with cats dangling from long chains, made from ceramic beads.  As I carry my purchases to the cash register...Angel Alarm!

Wow, these two nights have been sorta stressful!  Cat Yak, Mission scrubbed...I need a vacation!

Again, since I have no photos of this new cat adventure, here are Da Boyz:

Thankful Thursday: It Was Only A Dream!

WHEW!!!

In a beautiful, open room, some cat had...er, um...spilled the contents of their stomach.  It was a huge pool of yak.  Then, through the open windows came a breeze, which knocked over bottles of prescription medicines.  The pills were then strewn all over the barf!

I was on my knees, with a little scoop made from a fake credit card (I posted about this hack here), and was trying to save the pills from the goop.  I was frustrated, and wasn't making much headway.

Then...my Angel Alarm went off!  The Hubby, with a meowing Angel in his arms, strode in, and I was fully awake and the dream vanished.  WHEW!!!!

Am I ever thankful that the frustrating events were only a figment of my imagination.  What a way to start the day.

Since I obviously have no photos of this, I will entertain you with Angel, sitting inside the Expandable Soft Sided Pet Carrier.  She's made it her new crash-pad.

Da Boyz Lick Fest

Please don't ask me to identify which one is Manny or Chili Bruce; when they get all lickety and snuggly like this, The Hubby and I have to physically turn their bodies to find a big white belly spot (Manny) or the very small belly spot (CB).  In this case, each cat licks the other, so it all evens out.

The PO'M

Angel

Sweetie

Manny, doing a penta-dangle!

When Chili Bruce or Manny are asleep, I often stick my finger into their outstretched paw, and massage their wee toe beans.  No photo exists of this obvious disregard of their purrsonal space, but then again, neither wakes up enough to make me change this naughtiness...*wicked laugh* 😸

The PO'M: Tough Guy!

Paddy O'Malley has tangled with some other critter...again.  I found a puncture wound on his lower jaw yesterday.  Don't worry; these photos are not gruesome!

He's been acting a bit 'off', such as preferring to get cuddles and scritches this morning BEFORE eating his breakfast.  Gently rubbing a cotton swab soaked in Vetericyn first-aid spray on him yesterday afternoon, didn't appear to make him recoil in pain.  But his nerves are a bit on edge, and last night he was on patrol, watching the darkness in the yard, and avoiding me as I asked for night-night canoodles.

My bet, is that it's raccoons.  They wash their hands in The 'O' Cats's water bowl sometimes, leaving muddy water.  We pick up any food or used food bowls before calling it a night, just to keep any raccoon, groundhog, opossum, or marauding cat away.  But The PO'M is large and in charge, and doesn't take kindly to interlopers on his turf, and of course, he must protect Sweetie.

You all know I'll haul him into the vet's office, if his wound becomes icky.  Last year's abscess in his neck healed well, with the use of the Vetericyn spray, so I am sure we'll all be fine.

RIP The Queen of Soul

Freeway Of Love

Aretha Franklin
Songwriters: Jeffrey Cohen / Narada Michael Walden

Knew you'd be a vision in white
How'd you get your pants so tight?
Don't know what you're doin'
But you must be livin' right, yeah

Oh, we got some places to see
I brought all the maps with me
So jump right in, it ain't no sin
Take a ride in my machine

City traffic movin' way too slow
Drop the pedal and go, go, go

We goin' ridin' on the freeway of love
Wind's against our backs
We goin' ridin' on the freeway of love
In my pink Cadillac
We goin' ridin' on the freeway of love
Wind's against our back
Ain't we ridin' on the freeway of love
In my pink Cadillac?

Never you mind the exit signs
We got lots of time
We can't quit 'til we get
To the other side, ide, ide

With the radio playin' our song
We keep rollin' along
Who knows how far our car can get
Before you think your love slowin' on down

City traffic's movin' way too slow
Drop the pedal and go, go come on now, go

We goin' ridin' on the freeway of love
Wind's against our backs
We goin' ridin' on the freeway of love
In my pink Cadillac
We goin' ridin' on the freeway of love
Wind's against our back
Ain't we ridin' on the freeway of love
In my pink Cadillac? Oh yeah

Here we go, one more time mmm
With the wind and your fingers in my hair
Kind of think we're going for an extended throw down
So drop the top baby
And let's cruise on into this better than ever street

City traffic's movin' way too slow
Drop the pedal and go, go, come on baby, go, do it for me now

We goin' ridin' on the freeway of love
Wind's against our back
We goin' ridin' on the freeway of love
In my pink Cadillac

We goin' ridin' on the freeway of love
Wind's against my back
Ain't we ridin' on the freeway of love
In my pink Cadillac?

What I want you to do baby
Get over to the left lane
And let's merge with peace, oh yeah
Take the love that's sent ya
And then in the right time
Go on over in love and satisfaction and joy, well
Ain't we riding babe, ain't we cruising down
Free, free, sweet
Go on after, awh let's be good to each other street
Well, see that little landmark over there
A whole lot of kisses and sweet stuff
We'll be just about, awh, awh, awh
And satisfaction road yeah, satisfaction yeah ooo ahhh

Aretha Franklin
1942-2018
A musical icon for the world, but especially for Detroit, Michigan.

I chose the lyrics for "Freeway of Love" for this tribute, because Detroit is also considered the Automotive Capital of the World, and this Saturday is a incredible event.   Predicted to draw 1.5 million people, The Woodward Dream Cruise brings thousands upon thousands of classic autos and auto enthusiasts, who drive up and down a 16-mile long main street, from the city of Detroit to Pontiac...then back again!  Antique cars are parked in every conceivable spot along the entire length of the event, plus vendors and every automotive company puts out their finest products.  Horns honk, people cheer, and we'll all be singing along to Aretha Franklin's music all day.  The Hubby and I wander up and down Woodward Avenue in Birmingham, Michigan, oohing and aahing, while we eyeball the cars AND the people!

Thankful Thursday: Sweet Angel Baby

Look at that cutie!
Our Angel has lovely soft fur, a beguiling flop-over-and-purr routine that sucks in any human nearby, and is rather photogenic.  She is also dead set against being nice to any other cat, believes 5:30 am is a reasonable hour for interaction, and meows her head off if she can hear The Hubby's voice but not get near him.  We are thankful for her persnickety attitude, for she's taught us that one must stand up for one's desires, and that...with planning...things can work out, even if there isn't perfection. I, for one, need this lesson repeated over and over again; to accept, because fighting for perfection is like banging one's head against a brick wall.

New Beginnings Animal Rescue

While not exactly a cat cafe, New Beginnings Animal Rescue allows a visitor to interact with all of the kitties.  Located in Royal Oak, Michigan, NBAR was established in 2010, and per their website: "We are completely run by volunteers, funded by donations, and powered by cat hair."

I visited NBAR last week for a fund-raising garage sale, and was given a site tour.  I didn't take photos of everything, but there are separate rooms for adult cats, kittens, new cats, and ornery cats.  In addition, there are display cages in the lobby, for those special cats that the staff know need even more interaction with humans.

"Lemme OUT!"

Working the "Puss In Boots" routine

Snowball, who broke my heart as he gazed at
me from behind bars.  He's partially blind, and FIV+,
but friendly as all get out.

Seriously, how can a person be sad while holding kittens?
Nope, it's impawssible!

Napping for these two was more impawtant than making
goo-goo eyes at any potential adopter.
Not only do they adopt out cats, they have a cat food bank, for folks who meet a minimum requirement, so their pets won't go hungry.  They are seriously anti-declaw also.

This weekend, NBAR is having Whiskers and Whimsy Art Show, from 4 to 7 pm tonight, and 12 to 4 pm Saturday.  Lucky for me, I will drive there straight after work today, and still be home for dinner without The Hubby knowing about my stop!  I am a sneak, aren't I?

Learned it from my cats...

Thankful Thursday: Pearl

I've posted about my neighbor's floofy black cat before, here and here.  Recently, she's become quite lovey dovey with me, as I stride past on my evening walk.  With one glance, I stop, drop down onto the sidewalk, and pet and coo over her until she decides to quit.  I've adopted the name 'Pearl' for this cutie, until someone inside the house EVER tells me her name.  She climbs in and out of the house via a slightly opened window, so she's being cared for.

I am thankful that this adorable kitty allows me to love her.  I tell her  that she can come to me, two doors down, if she needs anything.  Pearl knows where I live; she watches me go in and out of the front door, and no doubt can smell the food bowls on the deck out back.

Disclaimer:
No cats...or humans...were harmed in the photo shoot of
these gorgeous creations!
All cats simply lounged photogenically while wearing their soft shirts.
The Hubby (who is a bonafide Hippie From The 60's) likes my
tie dyed shirt, so that is high praise indeed, and I LURV wearing multicolors!

Thanks SO MUCH to Trish and Scott!
